I despise Abrams as a director and think he goes for lame drama and over the top action over depth of character and meaning. I also hate what he did with Star Trek, though that could be a whole other thread. I am equally dis-pleased with what he did with Star Wars. The script of the new movie is shit but few seem to be able to see how half-assed put together it is, as if it's a messiah for 21st century hollywood, while it's in fact just quickly churned out to appease the drooling masses. One of the most legendary heroes in all of science fiction get's a death a lot more senseless than he should've had. It's also obviously about a "new" generation taking over; out with the old, in with the new, and the only way to make it "eviler" is by recycling the old with meaner baddies, more death, pointless lightsabers, and plots that are a laugh.

I would've much rather seen what Lucas had planned originally as a story, even if he didn't direct it .

The story is rehashed and unoriginal and clearly explains why Star Wars is going to be ground to death by Disney until it's only a shadow of it's former self.

Expect more Star Wars films than Marvels films, and don't expect quality of entertainment more than quantity.

A two dimensional character has no depth, lack of motivation, lack of passion, a lifeless figure, that at some point can even get cartoonish.

Although in terms of professional writing a 2d character does not mean necessarily a bad character, just a limited, static character that fullfills often just one purpose within a story build.

And in my own words

A credible villain for example has motivations you understand and can even follow up to a certain point. The theory behind it is that no individual is evil just for the sake of being evil.
But certain experiences can really alter any person, breaks their beliefs, can change them to the point that they abandon the behaviors that are accepted by the majority of society.
In theatre this is called:"a character is hardening on the inside"
In Return of the Jedi for example this hardening breaks up within Vader at the very end of the movie, with the effect that as a viewer I feel sympathy for this mass murderer, because I understand, I imagine that with the same experiences I could have made the same decisions as Vader, therefore I`m drawn into the story, the story grabs me on an emotional level. With the overall effect that I undergo the emotions (at least up to a certain point) of the characters I am presented, => I empathize <=

I questioned myself when I was watching SW7, if Kylo Ren can't control his emotions and acts as whiny child, how was he able to use force, which requires quite a discipline?

Since when? Luke and his dad had temper tantrums all the time.

Well control of emotions as far as I understood is part of the jedi training, the dark side is the opposite, no control at all.
But yeah good point, Mylo Pen or what`s his name appears much like an ADHD chiild aka stereotype. Thanks Abrams.
Funny that 500 years ago stories were more sophisticated, evolved and way better crafted than today, bitter lol (yeah I know generalisation, stuff, blah, duh)

Got back from it and it was alright... not a mindblowing experience but still rather entertaining. It started out great though, I liked the characters of Finn and Rey since they both had some potential to be even deeper characters that would grow on you. The return of Han Solo and Chewbacca was cool too, yeah referencing the past but it wasn't extremely forced like the previews made it out to be. Heck, even The First Order and Kylo Ren were interesting enough to see if anything about it was going to be played out. Then Ren removes his mask... and the movie kinda falls apart and just feels very bare bones and kinda underwhelming. The sequel hook with Luke was great and makes me interested in episode eight but overall, this one was just okay. It didn't have the multitude of issues the beginning of the prequel trilogy had but it was just lacking.

This is what I will not stop recommend to all Star Wars fans
