Sabin_Stargem: As ever, I find the isolationist viewpoint to be exceedingly selfish and without merit.
Curatorship is just censorship wearing a sheepskin.
I agree. I like buying my games DRM free, getting a backup, and so forth. Since i can rely on gog being DRM free (i've been questioning whether or not that will remain so, the past year or so though), I don't bother looking elsewhere for PC games that i might be interested in. When it comes up on the news feed, then i know it's DRM free and available. This curation thing is bunk, because the telltale games are shovelware, but they seem to put alot of effort into trying to hype them here on gog. Oh look, another point and click.
I'm not remotely interested in, yet another, pixel platformer. That said, to say it's curation is to say that somehow all the other same things that are coming out lately are totally novel or something, and they really aren't. I liked momodora. And War for the Overworld got the niche BS, too, which gog was smart to back out of, since the game ended up selling well. I can understand if they don't want to support every random dev that comes along asking to have their own page on gog, but from what I can tell from the problems devs have from gog from this "curation" business or some sort of backend tech support issues they're gag ordered on, I wouldn't dare release a game on gog if I made one worth paying for.
Plus, if GOG was interested in DRM free games that are old, good, classic, and influential, you'd think they'd have cavestory here. I smell something else going on. I'm no idiot. On the flip side, i will keep buying from gog as long as it's DRM free and the sell what i want to buy. I will not, however, pretend that it's all about buying and selling good games or curation, instead of some kind of special deal with the devs to take an extra cut off a sale, bribe to even put it on gog, or something like that.
