Sabin_Stargem: As ever, I find the isolationist viewpoint to be exceedingly selfish and without merit.

Curatorship is just censorship wearing a sheepskin.
I agree. I like buying my games DRM free, getting a backup, and so forth. Since i can rely on gog being DRM free (i've been questioning whether or not that will remain so, the past year or so though), I don't bother looking elsewhere for PC games that i might be interested in. When it comes up on the news feed, then i know it's DRM free and available. This curation thing is bunk, because the telltale games are shovelware, but they seem to put alot of effort into trying to hype them here on gog. Oh look, another point and click.

I'm not remotely interested in, yet another, pixel platformer. That said, to say it's curation is to say that somehow all the other same things that are coming out lately are totally novel or something, and they really aren't. I liked momodora. And War for the Overworld got the niche BS, too, which gog was smart to back out of, since the game ended up selling well. I can understand if they don't want to support every random dev that comes along asking to have their own page on gog, but from what I can tell from the problems devs have from gog from this "curation" business or some sort of backend tech support issues they're gag ordered on, I wouldn't dare release a game on gog if I made one worth paying for.

Plus, if GOG was interested in DRM free games that are old, good, classic, and influential, you'd think they'd have cavestory here. I smell something else going on. I'm no idiot. On the flip side, i will keep buying from gog as long as it's DRM free and the sell what i want to buy. I will not, however, pretend that it's all about buying and selling good games or curation, instead of some kind of special deal with the devs to take an extra cut off a sale, bribe to even put it on gog, or something like that.

The reason I haven't bought it on itch.io yet is because I'm hoping it appears here soon.
I shook my magic 8 ball, only to realize I was shaking a can of coconut water. Please take that as you will.
So... Odds of it releasing this week?

Odds are anywhere from 0 to 100.

Only half of them.
Maybe Celeste flew under GOG's radar until now but, with all the positive reviews and excitement, they should do what they can to get it here yesterday. Strike while the indie is hot.

Gog seems to be edging towards transparency. This can help.

paladin181: I'm just tired of this particular fad.
People churn out these shotty pixel art games a dime a dozen.
This. And there are so many games out there with beautiful, unique art and/or gameplay. Why don't we start demanding those instead of more and more of the same crappy looking ones that try to get by on nostalgia?

Good idea. Now get on it, chop-chop!

when you say this, do you have any specific games in mind? i only ask because you make this argument with some frequency without citing examples (although you may have in the past).

Thanks! Like fortune I must have missed your previous lists, hence my snarky reply earlier.

Yep, most of those have very interesting art styles and I do believe have their place on GOG. Pity that so few are available for Linux, though... :\
