Rap, HipHop

There was a Tom and Jerry movie on tv, I thought about watching it but the introductory rap music turned me off the movie.
Pop music.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: Are we considering "Rap" to be 'music?'

I consider it to be noise pollution, not music.

But if we are considering it to be music, then it's the worst, by far.
Defining whether something is "music" is not so easy.

For example, John Cage's famous work 4'33" consists entirely of silence (or at least no sound from the performers), but the composer considered it to be music, and there has been serious discussion about whether it counts as music. (At least 4'33" can't be argued to be noise pollution.)

With that said, I'd say that the majority of popular music, especially things like "heavy metal", feel like noise pollution to me. (I'd rather listen to an operatic soprano, or perhaps even a piccolo playing in the upper range.)

Same, but for the original English dub of One Piece by 4Kids. A show about globetrotting pirates. A rap. Who writes this crap?

Darvond: I'm honestly surprised with the suggestion of Gospel, I'd think of it as a largely dead horse genre.
And the horse is dead with good reason. In fact it killed itself, by running off a seaside cliff ;)

But sure, not say at all that there aren't any good 'divinely inspired' music. I imagine most people talking about gospel are referring to pop-style music, e.g. christian rock.

Classical. As in more or less pre 1900's; Nothing wrong with it but let's just say i got my fill of them as a teen and now it's something i just can't stand listening to in it's original state. It's kinda like pepperoni; I used to eat all the time and then suddenly i found i can't stand more than a few slices of pepperoni pizza before I'm done.

I've heard recent remixes and renditions and adding dub-step, or things like bittersweet symphony.

New pieces and solo-piano is something I'm far more tolerable with, especially playing piano myself (self-taught play by ear, very rusty anymore, sad I'll never be good at it)
Trash metal, Trance (or whatever that junk is called), Gangstarap.

That's way too broad, as it includes music by Bach and Mahler, and those two composers are *nothing* alike.

Also, for earlier music (particularly Bach, maybe as far as Mozart), you are likely not listening to the music in its original form, unless you happen to find a performance that uses period instruments (instead of modern ones).
Of course Orkhepaj doesn't like jazz.

BTW my least favorite genre is contemporary mainstream heavy metal like Avenged Sevenfold. Not sure what subcategory it falls under. To me it's just bad music

It's less to do with if they are similar or not. It's 'I've heard this a thousand times, turn something else on'...

Like getting hammered on the head with bible thumping parents, eventually you immediately zone out or back off when anything religious comes up.

Well, when I hear Gospel, I tend to think (and I'm probably showing my age here) the Pentecostal style where they bleat lyrics with little to no accompaniment.
low rated
glad we dont have gospel or country here
It's hard to say, since music in general is meant to appeal to the rhythmic part of the human brain... I'd say it's less about the genre and more about the message. Lately plenty of bands appeal more to visual aesthetics than artistry and soundscaping. Or maybe I was born in a different age, I don't know. Even the "brainless" things of old seem to have aged well compared to the brainless things you see these days...

(Loud sounds and electric guitar warning)

Why not both? I have a hard time believing someone might absolutely hate this song - that it's perhaps not everybody's cup of tea is a different story. But I've heard pagan black metal, that, while loud and seemingly disorganized, hits a rhythmic zone which can be quite enjoyable if it hits you right. That being said I'm not usually a fan of black metal, but to stuff like this I'd listen forever.

Least favorite music genres? Volksmusik and classic music.
While I would like to say country* or rap, I once heard the best of both worlds while visiting a business that plays country non-stop: country rap.

Then again, there are other things I would hate even more (e.g. most "experimental"/modernist stuff), but since I'm not forced to hear it publicly, I guess it doesn't bother me.

* Note that I don't dislike country because of the words, but because of the sound (although the voice, or more specifically the twang and whine, is what I mostly dislike). I don't listen to music for words; that's what poetry is for, and I don't like poetry. Fortunately, I don't understand most of what my current favorite band sings, even when they sing in "English", so I don't have my opinion reduced due to insipid sentiments or shallow philosophy.
