Thanks at least for what my 80 year old mind would rather not dwell on. At least the new 28 download files and 2 deluxe files are working just fine!

FFS, Keith. You don't need to open a new thread every time Baldur's Gate 3 gets a new offline installer.

You should use Galaxy to play the game. It is meant for elderly people.

Offline installers are meant for real men like me. And by real men I mean peeps that don't play games until years after the purchase, if ever. (I am playing Soul Reaver right now, haven't seen an update for it for ages.)

Could you imagine getting a warning before the update lands?

How long does all owned games remain in a gamers library?

Forever/to infinity and beyond/till the end of time, unless it's a dodgy purchase, a shady code from a third-party or via a stolen credit card...
Just wondering. GOG must have one heck of a storage method!

I'm pretty sure (but don't quote me on this) that there is a catalogue of all the games hosted here on GoG, and that every owner is provided with a link to said purchased game files. rather than duplicate files distributed to all game owners. Seems more logical and more space efficient too...

Edit: Added an 's' to the word 'owner', to make me look less stupid...

Nah, its stored one single time° for every user, unless you store it yourself... then it could be stored one or even several times for one single user.

°Technically not correct, even GoG may have some backups... but do not place your bid on it.

Then turn off automatic updates in Galaxy for that game - so you can bypass them, if you don't want them.

Also, it's often best to buy older titles from GOG that likely will NOT get updated much or even at all, so you can have likely the final version from here and never have to worry about downloading big updates & dealing with file integrity stuff.

For example - owning stuff like Neverwinter Nights 2: Complete is fine here. Download the installer files and be fine with it; I doubt Obsidian and Atari's gonna update that anytime soon.

I usually use Galaxy only for newer titles - like Cyberpunk 2077. Games getting updates constantly are a pain here, if you ain't using Galaxy. I'll probably buy stuff like BG3 when that game's old and done being updated...or it's so cheap, I wouldn't care - which probably won't be anytime soon.

I once played Two Worlds II so many times straight, 50 something +, and lost count of Two Worlds II World Merge that Young Neal 1, the tech that combined the main game and 2 separate related games, requested a walkthrough. I did one up in a little over a month. I used one of many names in those days.

https://www.moddb.com/mods/worldmerge

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/944162-two-worlds-ii/faqs/73181

You might have to do a separate search for worldmerge1.4a

That's great, pops.

What has this got to do with numerous unexpected update files?
