Nergal01: Well. I guess that's the main difference between the two games. Fallout 3 all lays it out for you and gives you a guideline to follow and all the reasons why you should identify with the main character and do the things you do,
That's not the way I'd put it. Besides, for the most part I ignored the main quest and the pacing seems to apply everywhere. Even if you just walk around, everything is in an acceptable distance. Once my interest for something fades the next thing is just around the corner.
In FNV, when my interest fades the next interesting thing is still distant.
Nergal01: whereas New Vegas tasks you to find your own motivation as to why you do the things you do and when.
I understand why that's a good thing but in my opinion ideally a game should have both qualities. The problem is that Fallout NV just doesn't manage to keep me interested. If it had more diverse and some energetic music tracks and had an atmosphere that resonated with me for example, then I'd be fine with finding my own motivation.
If I don't feel interested in the whole game then I can't find the motivation to even get to the good parts of the game
