babark: I dunno, I'd like to think that people will appreciate stuff like this regardless of when they grew up, and not just as a "Oh, this would've been so cool if it was in hi-res!" sort of way...in fact, I can't think of a way this art could be hi-ressed and still be the same thing:
You would like to think so but I would bet that most people who grew up with HDTV and Bluray as the norm won't be as impressed with it now. I appreciate good pixel art but not as much as exceptionally done traditional hand-drawn work. I tend to gravitate more towards games that use 2D instead of pixel art like Daedalic and Klei games for example. But, my point of view like yours regarding this is all subjective. :)

babark: As for MM in DoTT, I meant it should've been MM in DoTT original in DoTT remastered: game within a game within a game :D. Although has it been confirmed that you'd be able to swap between the original game and the remastered version's art and interface?

PS: What the hell happened to your rep?!
I'm not sure what you mean, it is going to be exactly like the original "game within a game" in the remastered version. Yes, it has been confirmed that we'll be able to swap between the original graphics and the remastered version in the same article that I linked. If you want more confirmation then here is a post on the DF forum directly from the source.

As for the rep well I'm not the only one getting a daily dose of down repping and since GOG doesn't want to fix this easily abused broken system there is nothing we can do except ignoring the worthless arbitrary number.

Rixasha: The Monkey Island special editions can at least be crafted into Ultimate Talkies, which is pretty cool. I'm led to believe that MI2 even restores iMUSE, I'm still waiting for a better sale on that so I'm not sure.
It does! AFAIK, the Ultimate Talkie version ports the original MI2 to the Fate of Atlantis version of the Scumm engine (because it supports speech).

All of the brokenness of MI2:SE's iMuse was in the new interpreter they'd written. Since the SE was using streaming audio rather than 'realtime' MIDI, they had to rewrite the way iMuse worked at a pretty low level. Unfortunately they didn't do a good job of that. Even the 'classic mode' in the SE was actually using streaming audio (recorded from an MT-32 or emulator of such), so the brokenness carried over to the classic mode.

The UT version is using the original realtime MIDI based music (whether you choose MT-32 or Adlib, it's still realtime MIDI), so all the iMuse stuff works as well as the normal version of the game does in ScummVM.

And DoTT you can craft into what ever combination pleases you. DF has already stated, that you can play the game with orginal art and animation if you so please. You can even swap the music to be the original if you don't like the remasters. You can even choose the UI that works for you the best.

Babark was referring to how in the original release Day of the Tentacle, you could play the entirety of its predecessor, Maniac Mansion, if you used the computer in Weird Ed's room. Apparently, that's not possible in the "remastered" version.

I wouldn't be surprised if Double Fine left out that extra so they can announce "Maniac Mansion - Remastered" further down the line.

EDIT: Disregard most of the above.

Where has it been confirmed that it isn't possible in the remastered version?

My understanding from the article I linked before is that Maniac Mansion will be playable on Weird Ed's computer in the remastered version just like in the original DOTT.

Here is the article and the quote again.

"Just like the original Day of the Tentacle, this restoration will contain the entirety of Maniac Mansion as an in-game bonus."

I stand corrected, then.
Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Now I just wonder which version of MM it'll be, then. Will they include the first one, which was used in most versions of Day of the Tentacle, or the second release with higher resolution?

No problem, as to which version is going to be used that is something which hasn't been revealed yet as far as I know and like you I'm also curious what they are going to go with in the remastered release. :)

I think a hoverboard is more accessible. :)

The way I understood was that the only mandatory remaster part for all is the remasterd voice acting, which they managed to clean up nicely as they have the original uncompressed recordings.

Well, the Lexus model looks like it's some type of mag-lev technology, so theoretically it probably could --if you had a long enough metallic road.
Ironic that DoubleFine's best "games" are simply remasters of games they didn't make. Schafer is a has-been.

I think many would argue that Psychonauts is their best game. And I think some would even be as bold and suggest Brutal Legends. And besides, Schafer is the person who was behind both, Grim and DoTT (and before you say anything about Ron Gilbert, he's on record saying that he had nothing to do with DoTT exluding the creation of Maniac Mansion and giving a suggestion about time travel.).

But you know, even with those, I quite liked Broken Age as well. It has a poor ending and the final half is pretty meh, but all before that is pretty enjoyable.
