Lukin86: I created a march ticket concerning mount and blade warband to indicate that the offline setup is not up to date (1.059). The galaxy version has the latest version (1.06x).
avatar
Timboli: You can't always go by version numbers.

Do you know for sure, that the Galaxy update has something needed by Offline users?
Sometimes an update is just Galaxy relevant and has nothing useful for us Offline users.
Its fixing bugs in game and ai in game for solo .Its has it all.

Revan509: Cry more or use Galaxy
Go jump off a bridge troll.

Galaxy first, offline second makes it more likely that people will just buy games elsewhere - because if you need a launcher to play the most up-to-date version of your game, then why not go for the most supported launcher?
I finally got the answer for mount and blade. And the answer is that they will contact the studio to update the builds offline. Except for the record, I had to be harassed every month for 2 years in Talesworld to get the 2.06x warband patch. They gave in to my requests last March but unfortunately the update only appeared via galaxy.

It's completely incomprehensible that gog doesn't do the offline setup itself when they have the masters via galaxy. If you have to wait for taleworld to do it. Given the trouble I had to get the patches, we will never have the updated setup. Especially since they dare to tell me to go through galaxy at the end to get the latest gog update. In short, the forcing of the "optional" launcher.

So I asked for the refund as much spent by steam if I want an up-to-date game via launcher.
Sigh....Another game to add to my "Missing Update" list.

Going by the changelogs on Steam, it appears there were quite a few patches to Viking Conquest DLC as well.

How would GOG do the offline installer if the update is not provided? Unless the can just applie the Galxxy update to the offline installer? ZOOM is still waiting for the Postal 4 offline installer to be ready for them. It's obvious GOG is not 100% in control.

We are still waiting on Spellfoce 1 to be updated because the developers said it was not ready for GOG. It sucks, but we are second-class to a lot of developers.

Syphon72: Some offline installers take longer to update. Tiny Trooper just got an update. You guys act like the game needs to be updated right now, or the game will not work at all. Some newer updates have broken or added more game bugs . Looking at your Kingdom under fire and diploma is not a option.
You should contact mrkgnao since they have a pretty long list of all the offline installers that have at least different version numbers than the Galaxy versions. Sometimes different version numbers don't mean that the game is outdated - but very often that's the case. An outdated OL installer is in most cases still not the end of the world, agreed - but it shows that GOG don't really care about those. The advise to "use Galaxy"whenever something is broken in the OL installation also is a slap in the face of the "Galaxy will always be optional" statement they told again and again. I think it is correct and good is people complain about those.

However recently I have the feeling that GOG does not care about anything anyway. Support tickets won't get answered anymore and if you get an answer in most cases it is just "forwarded it to the responsible department". GOG still will be my first store when it comes to purchasing games but customer support sucks at the moment ... not just in case of missing OL installers but also regarding support or even moderation (just take a look in the spam report thread). I wish I would have a job in which I would not have to lift a single finger and still get my money because right now, this seems to be the work at GOG - with the exception of those responsible for getting and uploading the games here and doing PR.

angelblue: It would be nice if GOG could solve the problem of certain offline games.
avatar
Breja: Why would they? They want everyone to switch to Galaxy. They've been treating non-Galaxy users like dead weight for years.
And I still don't understand why ... since they don't even work on their adored client to make it really functional and bug free.

Would that be the Air table list?

Edit: You said the support tickets are not being answered? I got a reply back from someone after three days. It was a live person, and he tried to help. But by that time, I had found the solution. There was no use for Galaxy as the solution.

I find it odd it took angelblue over an hour to make a ticket when it took me 10 minutes to get past that Devilish bot. One thing I do agree with is the bot needs to go!

Not saying GOG support is good. I probably would say there okay from my experience.

I don't know. I just know that we once tried to get rid of those differences once and for all. We started with a few games games and back then GOG even answered and helped. Then mrkgnao told me about this long list they still have and we forwarded just a few of them to GOG again ... but the silence. I am sure if you would contact mrkgnao they would tell you how many games we are talking about - in any case it is not just a handful (which is something I assumed before as well). So the problem does in fact exist. If GOG really would WANT to fix this they would ask for this list and fix every single outdated offline installer.

It depends. Sometimes I was lucky as well and I was wondering why so many complained - but right now ... at least since they've changed their support *cough* system ... not more than an automatic reply or at the very best "forwarded to the proper team". In any case none of it was helpful.

I get high blood pressure when I have to talk to the bot so I skipped it completely using the known script. I've heard that chosing "other" and "other" does the same though. Before I used that script however I experienced first hand that the bot sometimes tend to go in circles so it would not surprse me if someone would actually almost not be able to contact support at all. Here's a good question btw: why should a company make it as hard as possible to contact their support if they are really willing to help? Why isn't there a direct "bot can't help me, get me to ticket creation" button? This way those that don't need personal support might stil get help but they would not be forced to fight with the bot or the database that is missing their issue. When they iontroduced this crappy thing of a software I created a thread in which I complained about this and many joined my opinion ... bot is still there. GOG is listening to our feedback since years but they rarely ever act.

The mess-up part is the bots are becoming standard for companies. I have to contact many companies over their apps not working, and they all use the help bot. Guess what? The bot has never solved one of my issues. Never see any bot give me the option for direct help up front. It's terrible to use, but all companies seem to love it. lol

Companies love it because they THINK that it will help customers and reduce workload from support. Unfortunately the opposite is the case in the end with the addition that a customer who has trouble to get support will soon become an angry customer ... followed by not being a customer anymore at all. Some companys obviously forgot that there is competition around and not every customer is willing to swallow every pill they give out.
I'm also pretty sure that support blacklists people.

My last few tickets/replies-to-tickets-for-updates have gone completely unanswered.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was true. I have seen it happen firsthand at my old job. Not full on blacklisting, but certain users would be put on a list, usually for verbally harassing staff in the ticket or other things.

Yeah. Mine would be for reporting issues to them that they never actually resolve so making too many "perpetual tickets that they have to pass to product development".
It's kind of a surreal time to be alive. We've seen cdpr create GOG, thrive with it, introduce indies, relatively thrive with it, introduce AAA, somewhat thrive with it, introduce softcore porn, and maybe? thrive with it?

And now it just feels like everything is winding down. Galaxy doesn't even get updated regularly anymore, yet it's basically required if you want the latest bug fixes and updates.

It's so weird to just take a look at their gog storefront and see competitors take their niche product that they once owned completely (retro classics and somewhat to a degree cultivated indie titles) and actually sort of do it better, or at least update in a more timely manner.

It's already been mentioned elsewhere but if galaxy is no longer optional, what is the point of gog? I mean no disrespect. Look at my join date, I have a vested interest in gog doing well. It just seems like they've given up.

I wouldn't say giving up. Giving up to me would be GOG not releasing or trying to get popular games. It looks like GOG is focusing more of the budget on getting new games that will hopefully pay off in the long run.

Saying GOG is giving up when they released all the Yakuzas, Evil West, front mission remake, Endless Space1,2, and many more recently, seems false. Remember, a lot of good games are coming to GOG soon.
