drealmer7: holy crap! I checked for updates this morning and there were none!!!
I keep checking every day!!! thank you!!! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
"Naval battles with pirates and other worse things!" WHAT A CONCEPT, this is crazy
I mean, if any other RPG game was suddenly like "YA JETSKI COMBAT" I'd be like 'omfg no this is going to be horrible", but I have such faith in Styg, it's frikken exciting!!!
almabrds: You're welcome =)
I'm also anxious for this expansion, it'll be an instabuy from me!
Wildan, from the official forum, mentioned the movie Waterworld ('95).
It may be a reference to that movie, I didn't realize that when I was reading the dev log, nice finding.
Have you ever watched that movie?
I like that the dev had the guts to innovate the game with controllable machines. If he wanted to stay in the safe side, he could have created a craftable raft for the player.
And he could've made the raft transport you automatically to your chosen destination, but he decided to make something more complex and interesting than that. Even combat is possible.
I believe he can pull it off, he already demonstrated how skillful he is.
I did see wildan say that on the forums there~!
and yep! I've definitely seen Waterworld! I went to the theater and saw it when it was released because it was on the giant open water and something that was "must see on the bigscreen." Plus it was Kevin Costner's next big movie after huge success with Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (which I also went to the theater for), and Dances With Wolves (yep, went to that one too! and after WaterWorld, The Postman. - and I RARELY went/go to the movies.) Have the DVD, probably seen the movie 8 times? Love it. People love to hate it, but it's a hella-fun-funny-with-heart post-apocalyptic good movie! It's Mad Max on water! I wish they'd have made it a series.
So, ya, I'm pretty psyched, it will likely be my only game purchase this year and I don't even care if it is $15 on release, I'm getting it, I have that much desire to support Styg, and to get back into playing UnderRail after such a long hiatus.
and IT WORKS, it is in no way nonsensical (some might at-a-look be like "umm, you're under the earth, how is there water?) There are ABSOLUTELY under-the-earth giant seas and rivers (and they even have gruonds in the base game with the rivers and such, where do the rivers flow?! INTO THE SEA! OF COURSE!)
What vision! and what a switch of atmosphere/feeling I think it will be. Even though it is GIANT world in UnderRail. You feel like it is all "carved out" and therefore it feels "closed" and claustrophobic no matter how much there is to explore, and so, BAM, open waters. It's genius. This whole time I've been thinking what to expect and it's basically been "well they're just going to expand the underworld, meet up with some unknown sector of underground civilizations that have been doing the same sort of stuff that all the factions and areas of the base game have been doing, kind of like East meets West because both sides have finally dug that far and finally have 'met up'" or somesuch, BUT NO, so much more interesting and fresh!!!
