Magnitus: Overall, I think Obama behaved like a world leader regarding Cuba, by doing what a leader should do: bridging the gap
timppu: I tend to agree, however yesterday I read some article suggesting that Castro wasn't too thrilled about US suddenly becoming friendlier with them, as there Castro lost a good arch enemy. As if Castro really didn't want to be friends with US?
But maybe at this point it didn't matter that much to him anymore...
And also USA got friendlier so suddenly only because Russia and USA decided it's time for cold war round 2.
infinite9: Good riddance to Fidel Castro. I find it ironic how many liberals praise him despite how he basically admitted to targeting homosexuals for being homosexual or how he targeted political dissenters and alleged political dissenters for simply holding or expressing different opinions.
Apparently, some people believe that iron-fisted policies like political repression, the dismantling of free speech, and the prosecution of gays for being gay are fine as long as they done in the name of "equality" or the "working class."
And some people in the USA apparently still believe that Cuba is some kind of a hell on Earth just like the official USA propaganda make it seem so.
