So we live in a black and white world? All evil or all angel?

Just for the fun of it - can you name ONE dictator that built up healthcare and education after the former one, sent help internationally with vaccines, and also didn't erect massive statues of himself?

Also, just pointing out the positive in things isn't synonymous with being sympathetic with a dictators regime (or any regimes for that matter) :p

No evidences, word vs word... The case dates back 30 years ago and was revealed in a book written by the journalist, who is tacky nowadays. Just a new 15mn of fame case, IMO.

"While he dispatched Cuban-educated doctors and Cuban-developed vaccines to the poorest corners of Latin America, Cubans in central Havana found pharmacy shelves empty of medicine, and many lived in apartments in which they used buckets in their kitchens as toilets."

I was just about to post what you just posted. 1+

That said, while he might have made a difference for the people of Cuba, it seems like all leaders he was secretly rich and lived ostentatiouslywhich is rather hypocritical when he supposedly defended communism:
if you are going to stand for something, then begin with yourself and set an example, not expect the average person to uphold it for you.

Also, according to one of his body guard he moonlighted as a secret drug baron.

Shadowstalker16: Can we never have an RIP train? Its what people do on the internet no matter who dies. Literally any other thread can be used to discuss the value of the people who died.
I disagree. Nothing more lame and unnecessary than people saying RIP or "I'm sorry" without any discussions at all. It's like those favourite threads where people just list things. What's the damn point? Might as well think the words and go about your day.

Actually, it's kind of amusing as the people and press who vilified Trump as a future dictator are currently praising Castro. I suppose that only countries who suffered from communism get "the whole picture" of how Castro's regime worked (like gays being jailed, etc.)

I also agree that discussion is superior. But many people seem to have the habit of making a discussion political, then posting in it for a few pages against each other and then leaving after claiming the other side is stupid / unreasonable / whatever else and leaving the discussion half done. Or just stop replying without even that feeble warning and let other people waste their brainwaves over their poorly thought out post.

From the looks of it, many cubans in Florida are beating drums (or pots and pans) and celebrating his death. More or less Cuba has been under the regime of communism, and like North Korea and China, it's population are heavily repressed.

Indeed. The sad aspect is, no matter what we call a particularly type of ruling or regime, there's always one or more narcissistic and corrupt gremlin that apparently likes to hold everything to him/her -self.

Kind a like child; "MINE MINE MINE MINE". ...and Saving Nemo just entered the hall, great XD

No seriously, Castro had many good ideas, but then he turned into a fat pig. Communism, democracy, capitalism, monarchy, or dictatorship isn't evil. Just the person(s) behind the hypocratic power. It's always shiny until someone takes a closer look.

A friend of mine visited Cuba some years ago, and she and her husband saw mostly the good side, which she told everyone about. But that's the nature of most tourism - one often doesn't see the dark side. Like in movies they paint both Sweden and Norway as a glorified heaven, well almost. ;)

I never said that. But I will never in a million years have any sympathy for any dictator or communist regime. Just like I would never claims democracy is perfect or try to handwave away instances of abuse of power or corruption that happen in democratic countries. But at the end of the day, I will always praise democracy, even broken and battered, and always condemn dictatorship, even if it makes the trains run on time.

I won't argue with that but something tells me that that sometimes people get tired of their inability to communicate effectively with others, giving up half way through seems better than endlessly trying to conclude something.

Indeed which is why I think there's way too little discussion about honest, critical thinking against anything rather than discussing if this or that country is democratic or pro-people. Generally speaking a power structure that accepts critical thinking will in time help the people. Transparency laws in controversial areas is a good start.

The problems we have are the good problems to have as I like to call it. :)
Fuck Castro, him and that asshole on t-shirts did so much shit to people. The worst thing was when Castro stole that milliondollar-bill from Mr.Burns, such a dick move.
Sorry I have no idea who "David Hamilton" is. If I had to guess, I would have said he is probably some legendary actor who has played King Lear numerous times in the British Imperial Theater of Classic Arts or some such shit, but according to that article he just made some nude photos of teenagers. Oh, sounds like an easy way to become legendary.

Fidel I know better, but not personally. I liked his beard mostly. They should put his beard into a flower pot to see if it keeps growing.

Oh right! Without Fidel Castro, we wouldn't have one of the best movies ever, Scarface!

"Say hello to my little dick!"
