General Troubleshooting
-----------------------

If you're experiencing black screen / crash on launch, please try the following:

- Before starting the game, change video resolution to your desktop one (or the closest match). if that fails, try falling back to 1024x768. Video settings can be found under GOG Galaxy HERE
-- or in Start Menu HERE.
- Close any unnecessary applications running in the background, especially ones overlay-based like EVGA Precision, MSI Afterburner, GeForce Experience, FRAPS etc.
- If running multiple screen setup, try switching to a single monitor.

If none of the above helps, please send your DxDiag to our Support team HERE. The more information we have, the easier it will be to pinpoint the problem.

May the Force serve you well.

tinyE: The Abyss. You need to stay on the upper track or you miss the shortcut and go from 1st to 10th instantly.
You even quoted me when I mentioned that track specifically :P I dropped down three races in a row in the final lap. Took a break and then finished that thing first try. In comparison, the two tracks after that in the invitational tournament are really easy.

This is now on my "wish" list and the moment we see a release for Linux-based operating systems, I'll be buying this, irrespective of whether there is a discount or not... I didn't even know this game was released for Microsoft Windows-based operating systems, but I did play the Nintendo 64 version and it was fantastic.

Is there any news on a release for Linux-based operating systems, or is it just another "cross my fingers and hope it eventually comes to Linux" thing?

Korell: Okay, so I just bought the game and installed it (it prompted for elevated privileges). I installed to my usual games folder on my secondary hard drive. It went through the usual installation, installed DirectX 9.0c, and then I exited the installer after it finished (rather than launching the game straight away).

I then used the Video Settings tool to set the game to use a screen resolution of 1680x1050 (I'm on an old 16:10 monitor that I really need to replace) and I connected my Xbox 360 controller.

Then I launched the game and it started up just fine, though the cutscene videos are rather small as they aren't scaled, but at least they are centred on the screen.

Once the menu came up I navigated to the joystick settings and enabled it, and set the default controls to which I then tweaked them slightly.

Lastly, I started up a single player free play race and it played just fine (but I finished in 4th place as I crashed too often trying to use the roll function and working out how the boost works), though the axis I've set for rolling left/right is inverted, which is due to the game being DirectInput and my controller being XInput.

I'm on Windows 10 Home Edition.

I might try using XInput Plus to see if I can get a better controller setup and to allow me to get some Rumble in place of Force Feedback.

UPDATE: Well, I cannot get XInput Plus to work with this game. Using the DirectInput Output option works in the program itself, but the game doesn't identify it as a controller so can't make use of it. Meanwhile, trying to use it to invert the right stick axes has so far failed as roll left and right remain the wrong way around. Even disabling the right stick completely in XInput Plus, the game still picks it up, so I suspect something else is taking the input. Though I know XInput Plus is being called when the game starts as it beeps on starting the game to let you know it is active.

UPDATE 2: Further tests with XInput Plus, such as swapping the D-Pad and Right Stick are also making no difference, so I can only conclude that something else (DirectPlay, maybe?) is getting in the way, preventing the remappings of XInput Plus from being picked up. Oh well, it's still very playable (and I've managed to get a fastest lap time on that first test track of 54 seconds).
I would try using AntiMicro, it always worked for me in any game that I had problems mapping controls with.

Strijkbout: Here you are.
Thank you. I feel like I just won a very minor lottery :)

bpiwnik: I'm getting an RDROID_GNOME release build error whenever i boot up the game and it insta-crashes. Any way to fix it?
so i had the same issue. i dont know if you have solved it yet but microsoft also has an overlay which you can remove by following the instructions here
http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-3091550/turn-game-bar-windows.html
it solved my issue i hope it solves yours!
Good Release.
Ever since n64 games where in the virtual console on wii I wanted to download this game. sadly it never showed up there
Is it support local multiplayer ( split screen ) with wireless controllers ?
I bought the STAR WARS: Battlefront II (Classic) :)
Hey, I'm using a 360 controller and I've mapped it correctly to all the buttons and sticks. The problem is the when I turn right, I do turn, but I go on my left side. When I move left I just go left. Really confused about it.
I'm having a problem but it's with my whole PC and i doubt it's related to this (it would take 4+ tries to run). I'm getting DX9 errors in MPC:HC and errors in KSP saying it needs to run in opengl. What I have found is it's the latest nvidia drivers as the cause. If you feel you can do it safely, revert to the March drivers or wait for newer drivers (I'm not on beta drivers BTW). IMPORTANT: for NVIDIA users who have the latest drivers: a HOTFIX has been released. DOWNLOAD that and install to see if the game works.
