General Troubleshooting
-----------------------

If you're experiencing black screen / crash on launch, please try the following:

- Before starting the game, change video resolution to your desktop one (or the closest match). if that fails, try falling back to 1024x768. Video settings can be found under GOG Galaxy HERE
-- or in Start Menu HERE.
- Close any unnecessary applications running in the background, especially ones overlay-based like EVGA Precision, MSI Afterburner, GeForce Experience, FRAPS etc.
- If running multiple screen setup, try switching to a single monitor.

If none of the above helps, please send your DxDiag to our Support team HERE. The more information we have, the easier it will be to pinpoint the problem.

May the Force serve you well.

Game doesn;t even load for me. Set the resolution as some reviews suggested. Loading bar gets maybe a 5th of the way and just stops.

EDIT: Tried different resolution settings, different compatibility settings. Same result, game crashes on Windows 10 64 bit barely a 5th into thye loading bar.

same here =/
How do you get an xbox one controller to work with this?

Korell: So, is this using dgVoodoo2 to get it running on Win8 and Win10?

And the screen resolution settings, are they modifying the SWEP1RCR.EXE and RACER.EXE executables to replace the standard 640x480 resolution? Only I think this causes HUD stretching and vert- rather than hor+ for widescreen.

IronArcturus: Does the game run in a window?
Well, the PCGamingWiki says that it can be played windowed if you use dgVoodoo2, and masterotaku says that it comes with a different ddraw wrapper, but that it can be replaced with dgVoodoo2.

Hey everyone.
I "found" (not really, it was on the support page) a "fix" for the common error we all are having.

1. Follow (one or both of) these guides: (notice the spaces after "www.")
- www. support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/213039345
- www. support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003258969

2. Close everything that adds an overlay layer to the system (Nvidia GeForce, Discord (yes it uses overlay when activated)
3. Close your browser
4. Close everything else (you are gonna play the game in fullscreen you dont need to have twitch opened! :p)
5. Launch the game, if crashes: launch again, if still crashes: launch again.

Takes me like 3-5 tries until run the game using this method. Hope this helps until devs release a fix.

Happy racing! :3

Thanks. I think a blue needs to create a sub-forum for this game.

obi4ammama: Kudos to all GOG employees who made this possible (technical and business wise). The game feels like a brand new release ( with the exception of the older gfx of course :D). The optimization is top notch and it runs in my native resolution from the get go. Overall highly professionally done :). I hope that all people involved will get big fat salary increase :D

Special thanks to Desney too. Even though i hate the new movies with passion, i must admit that since disney took over, we witnessed steady stream of old lucas games releases on gog. However, still not a big fan of the direction the franchise is currently heading. Btw take the star wars license away from EA, chop chop.
And I did not like the prequels very much, but overall like the new approach, so it all balances out.

Not interested in this release ,but hopefully it means that remaining classic SW games might be on their way,"Force Commander" being the one I really want. And throw in Indy Jones and the Infernal Machine while your are at ti, gog.

it does sees as though GOG pushed this one out the door a little too soon.

Yes, finally! Good job, GOG!

HereForTheBeer: From all the goo-ing and gah-ing around here, I'm guessing the screenshots are giving me a poor impression. From those, it looks like an empty and generic low-altitude arcade racer.

GalacticKnight: There's several factors here.

<snip>

As you've said, there's a lot of "goo-ing" and "gah-ing", but that's for good reason. An average game wouldn't get this kind of attention.

I've, personally, been waiting forever for this to come to GOG, and I'm quite happy to finally get my hands on this version.
Guess I'll hit up the ol' youtubes to check out gameplay. In the screenshots, we don't even see any of the competition, and the only indication that you're competing against more than the clock is the position counter in the top right.

Thanks for the details.

Definitely check out YouTube for gameplay footage, it's what everyone should do before purchasing, wishlist voting, etc. any game. (just fyi, this Friday,LGR will release a video on the GOG-specific release.) The game had nearly 6,000 wishlist votes, so the hubabaloo doesn't surprise me. :)

Remember the good old days when everything had a demo? I miss that. I never got screwed.
