The circle is now complete… Let's do another one!

STAR WARS Episode I: Racer is now available, only on GOG.com, with a 15% launch discount until May 8, 5pm UTC.
It's back! The game that perfectly captured the high-velocity spirit of the memorable podracing sequence in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, returns. Also, enjoy more galactic adventures through timeless, DRM-free STAR WARS classics up to 66% off in the May The 4th sale, including STAR WARS: Knights of the Old Republic, STAR WARS: Battlefront II (Classic, 2005), STAR WARS: The Force Unleashed Ultimate Sith Edition, and STAR WARS: X-Wing vs TIE Fighter! The deals are available until May 8th, 5 PM UTC.

General Troubleshooting
-----------------------

If you're experiencing black screen / crash on launch, please try the following:

- Before starting the game, change video resolution to your desktop one (or the closest match). if that fails, try falling back to 1024x768. Video settings can be found under GOG Galaxy HERE
-- or in Start Menu HERE.
- Close any unnecessary applications running in the background, especially ones overlay-based like EVGA Precision, MSI Afterburner, GeForce Experience, FRAPS etc.
- If running multiple screen setup, try switching to a single monitor.

If none of the above helps, please send your DxDiag to our Support team HERE. The more information we have, the easier it will be to pinpoint the problem.

May the Force serve you well.

HunchBluntley: (A good example of this with another IP is the old SSI-published D&D computer games that GOG now owns. Even though they bought the rights to the games themselves -- rather than merely securing the right to distribute them -- those games are still licensed D&D products, and GOG cannot distribute them without an agreement with Wizards of the Coast, who own Dungeons & Dragons.)

What are those areas on the prison planet where you lose control, almost like you're free falling?

What are they, gravity wells or something?

Which track is that? I can't remember ever see that happening in any of the play-thrus I did over the year

Oovo IV, though I think they pop up in later circuits too.

Oh I know they are normal. :P That's not what I meant sorry. I've had this game for years on disc, I know it by heart (I actually have this really nice poster that came with it), but I was just curious what those sections were. I never really had it explained.

EDIT: I had a really nice poster. :P I can't find it now.

Holko: Starting Video Settings in either of these ways brings up the exact same rdroid_gnome error. No browser running, no overlays I know of (not sure how to properly disable Geforce Experience, but I tried).
There is a separate client built into this game just for changing resolution settings, which needs to match in order to not throw an error. It can be accessed through the galaxy client by right-clicking the game -> other -> video settings. I've attached an image to show you what the client looks like when it launches correctly. I have also set my compatibility to windows 98/ME on top of that.

Good luck!

Also make sure you select refresh rate native to your monitor (in Windows settings). For some reason I had it set to 60 Hz on 144 Hz monitor and that's why the game was crashing

You do know he would have made that post for any game they released yesterday, and he will continue to do so every Tuesday and Thursday.

That...... actually sounds quite sad.....
Well, finished the game, ran like a charm for me. Great game, but felt much easier this time around. ;D
