In the sands of time.

Predynastic Egypt is now available DRM-free, 50% off until October 31st 2pm UTC.

Before claiming the top of the civilizations pyramid, the Egyptians had to deal with plenty of ground-level problems: decimating epidemics, conflicts with enemies of the state both on the inside and outside, taming the land. Witness their impressive progress in an epic turn-based strategy that begins in 5000 B.C.

You can check out the demo first.
Thank you for the demo.
Very much appreciated.

I'm interested in the subject of the game, and the art style is pleasing - I'm sure I'll buy the game, though sim/strategy games are not on top of my preferences.

Miss_Terry: For now, we're only sure about Predynastic Egypt, Egypt: Old Kingdom and the following projects. From our side, there are no obstacles to prepare the rest of our games for GOG, but since it's a mutual agreement we have to ask for GOG's opinion about that :)
We'll that's good to hear ! Bought the game after posting here, been playing since and it's very enjoyable ;)

EDIT : Now I wonder...Since the Demo has the same full list of achievements as the base game but is not shared (got some in the demo, weren't unlocked in the base game even though my save was shared) where exactly the demo stops then ?

Surely it's not possible to gain every achievements in the demo. Which is a bit strange.

I just finished the demo and it was fun. The game gave me a simplified King of Dragon Pass vibe. There are at least 4 resources to manage: Food, Culture, Construction and Authority. The tutorial is very clear and I found most everything quite intuitive. If one likes turn-based strategy games, then you should definitely at least try the demo.

It stops if you are the first tribe to build the Sanctuary of the Falcon. The demo and full game download size seems the same, which is probably why the demo references all the achievements, etc.

you must be joking ? (⊙﹏⊙)
if they are i paid 4.99 which is not that much but always way too much for a demo when the demo = free .... (✖﹏✖)

gamesfreak64: i hope its not this game: https://youtu.be/RKhUa5shKzw?t=17

If it is, its no buy for me.... my stomache turned at 17 seconds the water the rotating too much motions.

Silverhawk170485: Yes, it's that one. :)

The new 3D engine might not be everyones taste but it differs from Predinastic Egypt in this way:

- more diversity in the game,
- varied tasks in the regions
- different tactics for playthroughs
- unique bonuses from patron gods
- longer gameplay
- New technologies: 3D engine and skeletal animation
very nice for the majority which are the only ones that count which is also obvious cause big audience = big bucks
still it s?x ... bigtime (✖﹏✖)

Anyway how will this work ? basically i paid for a demo ? yet the demo is a free download , why would they offer a download when paid for the game ? sureley those builds must be different ?

:D i know... some one is pulling a nasty lame joke on me .. . |◔◡◉| come on people ... admit .... hehehe its okay to pull my leg or both legs ... this is a simple joke ... ? right?

The dev hasnt replied yet ... so it must be a joke ? 17 turns end, in both games : demo and paid ?
nah must be some miscommunication i guess ... this must .... be ... a joke .... |◔◡◉| ?

Thanks for the tips how to get the max score out of it , its a small comfort for paying 4.99 for a game that is the same ad the demo , imagine 9.99 for this game , even if they claim that in the same paid for small game some research has been cut and only available in the paid game, it is still a (︶︹︺)

Anyway i have to remember to be carefull buying games from some developers, i am aware of them at Steam, there are dozens of (▰◡▰) devs and publishers that have shady devs that make games but i never thought there would be any here. (︶︹︺)

BreOl72: Looks interesting.

Alas! In the gameplay trailer at 1:00 it says "Turns to the end of the game: 17" - so, unfortunately, it's no game for me.
I like temporal unlimited freedom in my games.

didnt know that, paid game has a fe more things in it basically it seems they are the same, so 4.99 is like a 'royal' demo
:D
Anyway i am off .... i guess in a while 99% or maybe all games will be 3d ... well then it is time to return to the casual games until they turn 3d only aswell then its bye bye gaming .....

Calamitus: This game is more like a puzzle than a strategy, you have to play in a "proper way", try to deviate and you will lose. Almost no replayability as well, unless you care a lot about your final score.
no, I played though it 15-20 times, it is fun to improve your strategy and the score. Not a fan of puzzle games, this isn't one.

Oh, I see. Yeah well, it's a decently sized demo then. There's still more to do after the Falcon Sanctuary but having just finished my very first game it does look like it's a bit weak on the content.

Still fun though, considering it's my very first game of the kind I'm not disappointed.

Hello. Excuse me? What you talking about? We have 2 builds 1.0.8D for demo where game goes until ends 1 trial (Near 35-40 turn) and 1.0.8C without any limits. And we don't have restriction for 17 turns. Did you have ocured problem on 17 turn?

Just wanted to say thanks for bringing your game to gog. I have been following this one and the Old Kingdom for a longtime.

Thank you again.
I played through a match of this today. It's really light on the 4x strategy and was pretty fun. I managed to win with, I believe, 13 of 33 possible points, on the 2nd to last possible turn. The UI/UX was great (though I wish the things in the top right would pop-up automatically as an option). The mechanics were straightforward. The game does greatly push you to a "military" rather than "peaceful" direction, but that might be historical realism shining through the design. I REALLY liked the city vs regional view and how you eventually got the second. It felt right.

Oddest bit: one of the events was "skipped" for me because I had completed one of the previous ones differently (I think I took out a foe sooner than I was "supposed to") and got penalized for it in score. No biggie, but felt a bit off.

You likely have a customer in your next release!

Deadmarye: Is this accessible for someone not great in 4X ('cause I suppose it's a bit like that) ?
Pretty darned accessible as they go.

I believe the poster is referring to the "end game" mission that comes up where you have about 20 frantic turns to finish the last few things (pantheon, Memphis, unify, celebrate)

gamesfreak64, the game is far, far longer than just that few turns. But toward the end of it, it does pop up a warning reminding you of what remains to get max scoring. Just like in Civilization, et al, there's a turn limit for scoring. It will let you keep playing after it.

The actual time limit is 220 turns. If you've played Civ 5, it's like a standalone scenario though more developed and with its own aesthetic and unique mechanics. It's *not* a full 4X but rather a slice of one that aims for replayability rather than a grand scope. I think you'll get more out of it if you're the type of player that's like ''I won, but I can get a better score next time and snag more achievements'' rather than ''I beat the game, now I'm done with it.'' Then again, for less than 5 eurobux it's not exactly expensive even if you just play it once.

I had my eye on this when I found it on steam but knowing that Old Kingdoms will be released next week I will wait for that.

wow , why so tense ?
have i said something wrong by asking ? i have read many replies developers gave me on various boards, in emails, when asking game related questions , but your's is different .... wow... never had one like this... so tense...

to answer the question:

no... i read some replies telling about 17 turns .. i often read what other gamers have to tell, about demos and games(doing that for years now ( 20 years at least and before internet was common i read many game magazines , the paper ones (¬‿¬) spend lots of allowance and money on those magazines because they informed about games, rated games and 99% of them were always accurate .

Is it forbidden by law (⊙ ﹏???﹏⊙) to read replies , read (paper) game magazines, by games with coverdisks ( demos and sometimes full games) lateron with a cdrom or dvd demo disk... then i sincerly apologize for reading them and buying them (╯︵╰,)

Playing games for > 40 years and reading magazines, i have seen many games played many demos and bought the games.... i asked many many questions on as many boards, online game shops and no one complained.

Anyway its okay sorry i even asked .... i got the friendly message ... ...
