Maxvorstadt: 6 GB Graphics memory? Well, doesn`l sound as if they want to sell many copies of this game. :-D
avatar
huan: I was thinking about grabbing this, but the graphics memory is indeed insane. Install size 6GB, graphical memory 6GB - do they cache the whole game in there or what?? I usually don't pay attention to min requirements, but this it three times what I have. And not a slip on GOG release, Steam states the same number.
In a way it is high , i agree, but i have seen many videos of gamers demonstrating games and boy they do have 'monster' pc....

an affordable GPU : 359 euros:

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 G1 Gaming 6 GB Videocard
( planning to get this one)

https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N1060G1-GAMING-6GD-rev-10#kf

i7 ( around 629 euro or more )

Processor Model: 8086K
Socket : 1151
Processor Cores : 6 (Hexa-Core)
Processor Speed : 4.00 GHz
Clockspeed Turbo: 5.00 GHz
Processor Cache: 12 MB
Hyper-threading: yes
Unlocked multiplier: yes

or a 'cheaper' one:
Processor Series Intel Core i7 Processor Model 9700K 3.6GHz
"only" 479 euro ( give or take a few)

ad some new mobo and other parts to create a custom build:

1500 euro maybe 1600
includes windows 10 pro if i remember correctly , ( unless i made a mistake 100 euros will be added)

A very nice setup at a max of 1700 Euro, it sounds expensive and it is, but in my case it is 'affordable' ( takes months of saving but its 'affordable) cause i really need a new one after almost 10 years.

Anyway people who have something like thgis should be able to run the game pretty well i guess, i watched some videos and the game looks very good, i love base defending and the only reason for me not to purchase it
, is not because of pc limit cause i will have a new pc , but to the fact of the engine used , that is the one and only reason i skip many games like this: the engine.

Mawthra: Just tried the demo on Steam... really cool game! Bought here on GOG... noticed the Achievements aren't showing up in Galaxy yet... please flip the switch? (:
avatar
tinyE: It looks HAAAAAAAAARD
downloaded the steam demo, to bad it probably wont run bcause of the GPU, but i wanted to try it because it reads:

Processor: [Intel Core i5
and there are many ( better ) Core i5 then my dinosaur i5 750 so i want to have a god laugh trying this... i think the demo either gives a message it cant run on 2 gB, or simply crashes, or mabe starts but start overloading my cpu , i am really looking forward to see what will happen....

MINIMUM:
OS: 64-bit Windows 7/8/10
Processor: Intel Core i5
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: DirectX 10 compliant graphics card with 6GB dedicated memory
DirectX: Version 10
Storage: 6 GB available space
Sound Card: any

update: Unity, this looks very promising
time to burn rubber....

BRB :D

I'm back :D

check attachment: lowest.jpg
( lowest settings, no fullscreen)
and it got hotter, didnt wait ofcourse to fry things.

Anyway i5 might work , but forget the early ones, even with a 6 GB GPU ( noone with this old system would buy a 6 GB gpu) so its clear the i 5 750 2.66 is not suited for min play....

i5-750 2.66 ghz
win 7 64 buts 8 gb

GTX 750 ti 2 GB

Awesome, a real screenshot, taken with a camera! Ah, this brings me back to the 80s, when I used to read Computer gaming magazines. All the screenshots in those magazines looked like that. Ah, nostalgia!!!

I'm sure that's a mistake. Very few games running at 1080p require that amount of video memory. Maybe at 4k, with dedicated 4k textures, which I'm almost sure this game doesn't have. Besides that, on PCGamingWiki is listed with only 1 GB of VRAM.
nice but its the same demo, minus the few steam related files i guess :D

Anyway i knew the i5 as minimum is to general .... cause this suggests any i5 should do as a min. req. and that is not 100% true, once again, doesnt matter if the i5 750 had 6 GB gpu cause that would be pure overkill, so

i5 750 266 ghz is a no go

and buying any (older) i 5 is not reecommended, better start at a latest I5 or a good i7 :D
this game is too demanding on resources.

Sad, cause i like base building ( no 3d) but i like base building so the game will be of interest to gamers who like this type of game and own a appropriate computer.

Anyway this shows why i use this PC mainly for casualgames ( and GoofdOld Games , the old games run a charm
while many new (aaa) games and many s'imple' casualgames, are too heavvy for a 2.66 ghz: it simply isn't enough anymore, , many games ask for 3.0 or even 3.6 or even 3.8 ghz.

I agree, it has to be a mistake because my CPU was 'breaking a sweat' and the GPU had almost nothing to do, many games always mention the nr of K will need more GPU memory, since my old crt at 1024x768 at 85 hz (default) i doesnt have many K of textures, demo ran at 1280 at 75 hz, the videos are MP4 videos btw, i always explore my folders cause i want to know whats installed on my PC, there were many (large) .mp4 video files.

The good old days of gaming had simple videos like Red Alert had, they used the common old BINK. ah those good old days of gaming, games were expensive but worth every nicle, dime , penny, dollar, cent
thats why i bough every old game i had on retail, at GOG after i joined.

Anyway... i keep hoping original good old stuff will be developed again..... the games that were the reason i wanted to have a PC ( AMIGA had not many games available compared to PC)

You know, you have a socket 1156 motherboard there. You could buy a 1st gen. i7-870 for pretty cheap and then you would have a 4 core, 8 thread CPU there that can compete with even more modern CPUs. Check this out:

OK, tried the demo and the GFX memory requirement is complete nonsense. My R9-270 with 2G VRAM doesn't even break a sweat while running it on "pretty nice" graphics setting. I have no idea why they are trying to hurt their sales this way... TD is one of my favorite genres, this looks like a fine addition.
Bought this and it a beautifal game. Been looking for Sci-Fi zombie game.
gog it would be cool to say there is a demo on the games store page.

Hi guys,

I'm one of the developer of MarZ.
Sorry for the confusion regarding min specs. We forgot to change them, as a two man team things like that can happen.
The min specs were still from our early access version. We set them high enough just to be sure as we didn't knew back then how much we'll need ;)
Anyway, it'll be changed soon and as someone already mentioned the game runs fine with a graphic card with 2GB VRAM.

Thanks and enjoy MarZ!

Thanks and Welcome

I have tried the demo and it runs OK for me on an old Q9650 with an HD5870.

Might get a bit slower later in the game but I will be buying the full version to support you guys.

PS you should ask Gog for a developer log in.

bill_burroughs: So there's really no other idea for a game featuring Mars/ set on Mars than to put those dumb zombies in there? What's next? Mars railroad or pizza tycoon? DesertO: Mars? There will come a moment to raise popular support for a either unmanned or manned mission to Mars and peaople are gong to react like meh, Mars is that stupid planet from games about zombies so hey let's let the humankind cook itself for good here on Earth. Enough said - well deserved, even if just beacuse of those stupid games featuring zombies and pizza on Mars.

tinyE: Absolutely.

Next thing you know they'll make a game about a Marine killing monsters and demons and try to convince us it's special because it takes place on Mars.

Of course it won't work, and no one will play it, because no one would go for such a stupid gimmick! :P
Yeah, the first warning came years ago while we were watching John Carpenter's "The Ghost of Mars" and I thought to myself; the hell he had needed Mars for in there? That was already a symptom of a crisis and I suddenly knew that Mars was being severly misused in the popular culture that way. My then future ex-wife was equally puzzled on having realized it was set on Mars no sooner than I told her so, but since she had soon grown dumb as f**k so no wonder there. Then another woman and another movie - "The Last Days on Mars" a couple of years ago, starring Liev Schreiber among others. I said: cool, a close range hard sci-fi set on Mars - twenty minutes into the movie and I am like wait a minute , I know that story and hate that - yes, that's a score, we've a winner and that is a dumb zombie story indeed. Felt like ... cheated and made to explain myself on top of that,an insult added to injury already there. So sorry devs, I don't mean to bash the game, I just keep looking forward to something more serious and am already alergic like hell to seeing Mars handled like that.
