TheGrimLord: Also, hey. Let's just get the cat out of the bag right now and say that women are also gonna be interested in these games. Some already are. Women are a little more discreet with their adult games, they don't really talk about it so much, but they're there as part of the adult gaming community. But you'll have a woman that's a bit more daring, look at some of the scenes and whisper... "hey, that's kinda hot, kinda kinky" and she'll smile and laugh. Because she gets it's not real. A lot of these gals just want more of this stuff out because they really dig it and it's on the down low. Maia and I are gonna discuss that in another interview this month.
Oh, totally. Women make up a significant part of the adult gaming community. You can take a look at someone like Mangagamer with their licensing surveys and women make up over a third of their customer base. It's not just consuming the products that women are a taking part in either. There's so many women in the business itself and creating content. Some of the most popular hentai artists are in fact women.
richlind33: Degredation is way cool these days among those who've lost their way and and can't distinguish up from down. Porn is just one more addiction to get lost in, if getting lost is what you're into, but is it "harmless"? Of course not, because there is absolutely nothing in this world that is. So why lie about it and pretend that it is? Because that is the psychology of an addict: to minimize the harmfulness of what they're doing and pretend that they're in control. And modern research is showing that pornography has some very nasty effects on the human mind, one of which is that plain vanilla porn doesn't satisfy indefinitely with respect to arousal, which is why pornographers exploit taboos like rape, incest, etc.
The same thing could be said about gaming in general. Don't you think it's kind of hypocritical to single out adult games here, but not gaming in general?
Is gaming in general something that can be an addiction? How many people are self medicating with gaming and ruining their lives with an addiction that's out of control? What about the ultra violent games that some many young people are consuming throughout their day and the modern research that shows the negative effects that some of these games have on people also?
bombardier: Currently i work on a complex multi threaded high performance processing software weighing at around 1.5 millions of lines of C++ code, but in my younger years I did some work on open source games and 3d renderings as a hobby.
I knew enough to know that I better quit early, since my renders were looking similar to the way these 3D porn games and comics look. Poor texturing, unnatural poses and terrible lighting was alI I could manage, so I know how little knowledge and effort it is needed to make something like that.
It might appear complex and difficult for someone who never tried it, but there is very small gap to cross from not knowing how to make a 3d image to making this bad a 3d image compared to insurmountable abyss that stands between this type of work and high quality render.
I mean absolutely no offense to you by saying this, but it sounds like you just weren't very good at it, or weren't willing to put in the effort if that was all you could manage. There's amazing things people are creating today, and it's incredibly popular. You have guys that are absolutely making a killing and will be set to retire early if they want by doing this stuff.
richlind33: Addicts care about getting their next fix, and not much more. Those who promote addictive products are IMO parasites, because we're talking about captive markets. It's psychological slavery, nothing less and nothing more.
Why the insults? When is that ever necessary? It's really an indictment on you and your character when you go down that path. There's no need to call others parasites because they like a different genre of games than you do.
Is GOG and it's staff parasites also? Games of all types are addictive products, but again, you're singling out something that you don't like, because you're not mature enough to ignore something that you don't think should exist.
