R0B0LUT10N: Looks pretty, and stylish, but other than that, what makes it unique?
To be completely honest, nothing makes it particularly unique, it's a mishmash of a bunch of other titles packaged with this peculiar art style and sound design. Then again, what it sets out to do, it does extremely well. It's basically 2D platformer Hotline Miami with a katana and the ability to slow down time (and do other time-related abilities) à lá Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. The story starts out bland enough, but as you move through the game it starts getting more and more weird (and, to me, interesting), with obvious parallels with movies like Jacob's Ladder and Drive (which was also a huge inspiration on Hotline Miami).
I think what makes this game unique is all that it blends together from other games in such a good way. Obviously, no game is meant for everyone, so if you don't like what you see, chances are you're better off avoiding it altogether. Which is fine, people play what they like to play.
