Mmmm MoO 2?
I just hate when this happens, I finally bought the game on Steam last sale and it finally comes to GOG (and I've been such a GOG loyalist... GOG has only themselves to blame though, I'm still really mad at the store). Typical.

I might buy it here again to support the designers later. Maybe.

What does GOG have to do with the game not being released here before?(Obviously Gog's curation didn't reject the game).
If you want to blame someone probably the publisher is at fault here because the game was released in July 25 , 2019 that is almost 1.5 years and they didn't release the game here

Looks interesting. Pushes buttons that I like for this type of game.

But I also see it has a DLC. DLC's are a big-turnoff for me - at least while they are still being trickled-out over time. Once they are all out and a "GOTY" edition is released - THEN I want the game and all of its DLC's.

What I can't obviously determine with this game is - is that DLC the only one - or, like GalCiv III or FrostPunk, are they just going to keep on coming (possibly even after I buy the GOTY edition).

Not knowing means I add it to the Wishlist and keep an eye on it...
Looks very Stellaris inspired

When looking at the steam page of the game this dlc is the only one (yet). And it came out almost a year and a half after the main game was released there (on steam: main game july 2019, dlc november 2020)

So it is only on GOG that we have the dlc released on the same time as the main game.

That bodes well then. Thanks for noting it.

So I took a second look at it, and thought maybe I'd go for it - but too bad that GOG didn't also offer up that one DLC and the Soundtrack (second "DLC") on sale as well. Unfortunately they're not on sale; so I'm not sure if I'll go for it or not - perhaps just the main game and put the DLC's on the wishlist. At least I have a few days to ponder it. :)
One word about the name of the company: When glanced at it, it almos read as “Firaxis”. Heh.

Still, the more I look at those screenshots, the more likable the game appears to be. Events, a dedicated screen for ground combat, leaders... It might seem that this game has learned from its elders.

It would be nice to have it compared to its peers, like Polaris, Master of Orion (the remake) and so on. Even Stellaris, if you want (despite the former being turn-based and the latter not).

Understandable. Still, there are DLC and DLC. Some games/companies use DLC to complete the game with planned features that were sorely lacking at launch. Think Civ since IV or some of the DLC from Paradox. In other cases, the game comes complete and playable at launch, and DLC come afterwards in order to give more to those who wish to keep playing the game. Think Battle Brothers. The latter are OK.

A couple of reviews and such from a 4X dedicated site.
Are the galaxies randomized in the game or is it only the tech tree?

No, GOG is at fault for other things that led me to be so frustrated as to not be a GOG loyalist anymore. It wasn't just one thing or two, but a series of disappointments. I'm still saddened by it, and a lot.

I just found this statement from the founder and owner of Praxis (also one of the developers ot this game):

"We released our first expansion Natural Law less than a month ago, and we plan on offering further expansions, and major *free* updates, that will add a lot more to the game, always subject to the game's success, of course, the more success it has the more we'll be able to improve it. And, let's face it, a 4X game needs at least a couple of expansions to reach its full potential, and we're hard at work to see that come to life"

(from an answer to a negative review on Steam, just a month ago)

So, the answer is yes, if sales goes well, there will be more DLC's.

According to that same person i wrote about above (Adam Solo from Praxis), nope. He says that Interestellar is 100% designed turn-based and it's different from the Stellaris pacing, strategy, etc.

I was also interested in knowing this. It seems that the game creates a procedural map on start, so yes. Some people suggested in their forums to have a map editor and to be able to save those maps for sharing, but it seems that is not implemented, even though the developer said it was a nice idea, but difficult to implement (at least editing custom maps, saving generated in-game maps it's very easy, he added )

Anyway, i remember reading a bit about this game on release but i had lost it's track since then. Despite the Steam reviews (that went from just mixed to mostly positive with the updates) the game seems to be good for those who still enjoy classic MOO2 gameplay. Nothing too different, a modern take on the classic side of the genre. The Explorminate articles and reviews also have help to get my attention.

I will watch some videos, but i think i'm in.

Thank you for that information.

Looks like I'll keep an eye on it via the Wishlist.
