Spectrum_Legacy: As long as the original is up for sale, then it's good - I just wish that gog would sell what many consider the best version, instead of what bathesda calls the superior version. However as it seems, not everyone gets that and we can't choose here.
Yeah. I'm so obsessed with GOG getting the original Doom 3 simply because I want to finally own it. The only version of Doom 3 I ever played is the pirated one I am keeping around since like 2005, ready to finally discard it the moment Doom 3 + RoE finally appears here. I'm not buying it on Steam.

And I very briefly tried the BFG version before very quickly "nope-ing" outta there.

Very nice.

I'm also hoping Quake Enhanced and original Doom 3 will eventually pop up here.

J Lo: Game mechanics were unchanged when it was ported to the Xbox. Facts.

Spectrum_Legacy: Some things were adjusted for console, like autoaim because of gamepad's lack of precision compared to mouse etc but that doesn't really matter in the whole picture.

What you mention is exactly my point though. Doom 3 was developed as a pc game, not as some corner-cutting lowest common denominator (because of console release) title. And who moaned the most about it being too dark, too hard, too spooky? Yep, you guessed it... the console users. But at least it lead to the BFG edition development - primarily for the consoles. I reckon there's no point in going into further details and technicalities. We walked the full circle here together after all.
"What you mention is exactly my point though."

I mentioned the original console release was unchanged. Your point was they changed game mechanics in BFG edition to cater for consoles..."watered down version for casuals, originally a console release". If that were true, there would have been more changes to the original Xbox version.

"And who moaned the most about it being too dark, too hard, too spooky? Yep, you guessed it... the console users." Citation needed. I play both PC and console. I don't think the original game was "too hard" and "too spooky". It was the exact opposite. Most of the enemies were easy, and the last boss was a joke. Kill some hired goons to fill the soul cube, and then pelt it at the boss. Repeat ad nauseam. The game relies on jump scares, and before I make it halfway into the game they become entirely predictable. Some parts were actually pretty funny. Like the two zombies eating a corpse on the ground. I laughed my ass off when I saw the body get up. Like he was just lying there letting his bros feast on him. A friend need is a friend indeed...wish I had buddies that loyal.

Is that all you've got Bethesda? Don't get me wrong I love that you released Doom64 here but I expected more.

Doom 2016 would make an excellent release here.
Beep...beep...
Wrong number
Something peculiar just struck me about this release:
This game was hardly written in stone to be released here on GOG when MS bought Zenimax&Bethesda so this is almost like MS released a game here even though I thought such a thing would never happen.

The Doom series has cultists in it (see Eternal). I'd say it's definitely a cult game.
Now where's the Unity ports of Doom I and II on GOG? And also Quake Enhanced that you "promised" us?

That's not what 'cult' means, but I do think this post is a fantastic example of how people don't understand what a cult game/film etc is

You'd be shocked how many people have said this and been entirely sincere, it's hard to tell anymore *sinks into a pit of liquid and demon coom*
