mintee: well done sir, well done :P

First impression,that struck me:)

blotunga: Meh, I don't like platformers...
It's a walking illuminator.

悲伤的小屁股: When Candleman was out initially, there was 9 chapters. Candleman: The Complete Journey add another 3 chapters to make the story complete.
avatar
FlockeSchnee: Do I need Internet to install or/and play the game? (I know that I need it for downloading :-) )
Internet connection is not required to play the game once you downloaded it. Apologise for the confusion. That information should has been deleted from the requirement. : )

悲伤的小屁股: The slow pace and serene ambience help creating a story book experience. When you are tired of the slow process, take a rest, maybe give another go sometime later.

The journey is part of the adventure. : )

lostwolfe: oh. this seems up my alley.

now i'm /far/ more curious about it. i love slow, gentle games.

congratulations on your release on gog.
Glad to know it suits your tast. Thank you for the good wishes. : )

MarkoH01: Hey devs. Welcome to GOG - always nice (and unfortunately much too rare) to see devs posting on the GOG forum. It also usually pushes me in the direction to buy those games :)

There is only one thing left to ask for me before I will finally push that "buy" button. The requirements listed on the gamepage also show a broadband connection. So does this mean that you are unbable to play or install the game if you don't have any internet connection?
Thank you. It's been quite an exciting experience knowing people have common interests here. Your encouragement helps me to understand how to do my job better. : )

About the "requirements", Internet connection is not neccesary to play the game. My apologies for providing the misleading information. GOG has helped correcting the requirement page.

I hope you'll have a good time in Candleman.

That's a very appropriate definition. We did serious case-study on Mario and Journey, in order to find a fine balence between gameplay and immersive experience for Candleman.

I know the intention sounds silly, but we did try our best in practice. If you give it a go, you can see how we tried. : )

Seeing you show interets in the game, the pleasure is ours.

Looking forward to play it and just bought it. Thank you for providing this really helpful information. :)

BreOl72: This looks awesome.

However, that "only 10 seconds burn time" could be something, I don't like/enjoy.
Will have to read some reviews to see how that time constraint actually affects the game(play).

On the wishlist it goes.
Since I bought it and just played it a little I might help here.
Candleman has just a short time he can burn or he goes out of wax. So you are running and jumping through the dark and you will have to be careful how long you will push that "burn" button. So you press it shortly and iulluminate your way. Try to remember the best you can or push the button again. The more wax you use the shorter Candleman gets - but that does notr prevent jumping or running. Side effect of burning is the said losing of wax which you can see quite well even in the darkness. So you are sort of able to mark your way with this as well. Last but not least: since you are trying to find all candles in one level and light them the playzone will get brighter the more candles you will light up.

Sorry, but it's not my type of game.

blotunga: Meh, I don't like platformers...
i don like them either, i had a few on old pc, and AMIGA but i got tired real soon, plus all the hopping jumping and paralax backgrounds moving up and down , like super frog ... boy my stomache turned because of all the motions, its like being on a boat to show some animals in a wildlife park we have in Holland.... ... motion sickness .... so no platform and similar games for me.

avatar
gamesfreak64: Yup, its awful. news is new and should be on top, but noooo its at the bottom....which doesnt show cause the script doesn scale well when using 100% ( default setting in ff) , i have to decrease it to 90% to see the now on sale
and the news , two of the most important items simply do not show because of a either bad use of media queries or the lack of it...... or use of scripting in a buggy way....

I fear it will not be fixed because they are not aware of the problem....

check attachment: now_on_sale100%.jpg
and news_100%.jpg

at 90% it shows, but at 90% forum fonts get even smaller then they already are at 100% , and harder to read
so i have to set % to 100 when i visit the forum and to 90% when i visit the store pages

I assume this will be fixed ? internet has 100000000s of tuts on how to properly scale a website so anyone at any browser size or device can read it properly. :D

already discussed this in another topic but its probably not read by GOG team ....
avatar
MarkoH01: Just for your information. It's not just a scaling problem. It also seems to depend on the FF version you are using and/or installed add-ons. I am using FF ESR 52.9 and I can see everything fine at standard 100% (if you want I could add a screenshot at well). I am just telling you so that you know there is more to the issue - still it should not happen at all of course.
i have 56 because its quite stable ( its old i know) and i need all the trusted aplliciations to block lots of adds and sites that have too many adds and other weird things.

A welknown Dutch site NU dot nl and other welknown sites had some nasty things going on which they were 'unaware' of was related to some 'adds' seems the dutch money hungery sites do not check were the ads are coming from and they got some nasty problems, with sites like that you need all the protection you can and the new adblock doesnt block everything.

Anyway a good developer makes a site that would display properly on a screen the size of a matchbox if needed....
so its a problem the webmaster have, you cannot force the whole world to use one same kind of media and screen just so they can design an easy website the challenge is to server many .

I completely agree.

I also understand if you don't want to update your FF browser to the quantum version since many add ons are not compatible with it. Just for information though: I am using FF ESR 52.9 which is the latest non quantum release and it is working fine. So jusst in case GOG should not be able to fix this or in case you don't want to wait that long updating to this version should not give you any disadvantages. When GOG introduced the new web site first the front page was completely broken to me. I figured out that you can switch FF versions easily as long as you backup your profile folder completely. As I said, it is just a possible workaround if you like since I completely agree that the site should work with different browsers without any problems.

The beauty of it is the fact that when i emulate the gog site in quirktools ( quirktools dot com )
and i emulate the 1900 x 1200 resolution ( you have to enable allow scrolling ( top menu) )
the new and now on sale DO show up .... so i think its a solvable problem, but they seem to have a hard time finding it...
anyway i am not the developer of the site, have not followed any course, have no certificates for webdesigning,so its not up to me to fix it ... even if i was able to fix or have the knowhow to fix it, i probably would not tell it.... because i am a simple gamer and not paid to develop this website or any other websites for that matter.

Seems you can share a link... i will try and see if you can use it

http://quirktools.com/screenfly/#u=http%3A//gog.com&w=1920&h=1200&a=1&s=1

your screen should look something like this ( scrollbars might be visible or not depending on your resolution of your screen ( monitor)

screenshot made from my browser:

the link should show something like this: quirktoolscreens.jpg

note the horizontal scrollbars showing the screen is set to a widht of 1900 pixels and since my screen shows around 1008 ( visible) pixels or so scrollbars are visible.

Works for me but that does not mean a thing or help you since the site was working before for me as well.

Then again - discussing the website and the disadvantages probably goes a bit OT in a release thread.

Thank you for clearing that up. :-) Just bought it. Looks like something I would enjoy a lot. Thanks for the game.
