Why not to offer the launcher as an "additional option"... kinda a "launcher patch" for those who enjoy or dare...

What i do not get is why to "force" everyone by going the same paths and not trying to understand that NOT everyone is the same and even minorities got some rights to exist... and play... as well.

Personally, no issues with the existence of Galaxy or any other launcher, but the major problem is... with every new "option" as soon as the majority is "jumping into this bandwagon" the support for "smaller options" will gradually decrease... this is the thing that makes me worried, and it seems i am afraid for very valid reasons.

Sure, Treasure Adventure Game has a "launcher", but it's also a relic of a Flash game from --2004-- 2011 made by one person and primarily deals in configuration settings.

I don't mind Galaxy as I find its intergration of several platform clients useful. What I mind and find totally unnecessary is an addition launcher which serves to no other purpose but advertisement. And it's not even clever ad.

You can switch off RedLauncher in installation options within GOG Galaxy, at least it works for Witcher3, and you can pick any version that is available

To add insult, I cannot login into the launcher on steam Linux, as it now is supposed to open a web browser and handover login details.

I've been using the ZOOM platform a lot lately. They offer DRM-free games and remind of GOG in its early days: Buy the game, download the offline installer, install and be happy! No galaxy launcher, no red, green or blue launcher, no bullshit. They also have a lot of good old games, some that are no longer on GOG and others that never made it onto GOG. Anyway, here's a tip for those who are divided between Steam and GOG; well, since 2014 we have had the ZOOM platform which has only grown with the same initial philosophies. Are you a fan of Duke Nukem? All the games are there! Except "forever". I don't think anyone misses this one, hehe. XD
