I'd prefer if it was a party-based, turn-based CRPG which used the exact rules of the tabletop game, but we can't have everythin we want can we.

WashclothRepair: People are desperate to find something to complain about... They are determined to find something to bitch about....
Judging by you I'd say you're absolutely right, but the thread should be titled "Whiny whiners whining about whine".
I am quite happy that this is probably gonna be first person. much more immersive that way :)
I guess, the first mod will be a third person mod.
I am happy it is 1st person but i can understand why people want 3rd person views. Looking forward to the game now i know as well that you can create and customise your own character.

Well personally I don't mind at all if Cyberpunk is in first person and I even think it's a good idea, I mean if Witcher 4 was going to be in FP then yes I would understand the complaints, especially that the type of game (i.e. melee / sword combat) works better in third person. But for Cyberpunk, it's a futuristic setting so most probably most of the non-stealth fights will use weapons, so first person makes perfect sense and I don't see any problem with it. System Shock and Deus Ex (original) are two of my favorites games and I would never have wanted them in third person mode.

That being said if peoples don't like it and complains about it, as long as they do it "reasonably" (i.e. not using death threats or insults) I don't see a problem with it either, and calling them "entitled crybaby" is pretty silly (to remain polite) and definitely not productive; maybe if peoples learn to accept that others might have different opinions without calling them names we would have less of those stupid "controversies".

I am very happy that this is going to be First Person (and that you have some choices with character creation). Even though I loved Witcher 3, the only RPGs I ever played that felt truly immersive were the Elder Scrolls games specifically because of the Character Creation and the First Person view. This is the first time CDPR is using First Person and I think its going to make the RPG aspects and immersion of the game infinitely better.
Nothing wrong with an RPG having a first-person perspective.

At the same time, nothing wrong with people complaining that it lacks a first-person perspective just because "OMG, it's the next RPG from CDPR and you are getting worked up over nothing?!/1!1?!"
I imagine the first person perspective would make for great player immersion when you remove, tweak or replace your jaw, eyes, various protuberances (cue non-stop hormonal giddiness of teenagers worldwide) etc. in front of a mirror. Fairfox approves! :D

Silly Gersen, the only options on the internet are yes or no, not anything in between.
What's wrong with having both first person and third person perspectives? Many games have done that. You make the choice of how you want to play without being locked into a perspective.

Who are these whiners and where are they? I've seen no mention of this before you posted here.

Why shoudn't people be able to complain (politely) about what they don't like?

Anyway, I wasn't sure what to prefer, but:
- 1st person is very immersive, but a bit anonymous and "samey" with all the FPS titles released nowadays.
- 3rd person loses some immersion, but allows to show a lot more expressions and interactions. It requires more work, though.

(in any case, I'm sure there would be camera mods for it)

From the little I've read of what the devs have said about it, there would be issues with some of the things they wanted to do in the game: HUD displays, implant mechanics, things like that. So the design they went with likely wouldn't be feasible for TPP. I do understand it, but I don't like it. Sadly, it means I'll be passing on this - and it looks like it will be a great game.

Well, that kind of makes sense but I'll look into what they actually said and we will get to see the end result when it comes out, of course. This greatly reduces my interest as well. Most likely, I will eventually add it to my collection down the line, way down the line. I think Witcher 3 will be considered old by then. However, at least now I could save my hype (and my money) for something else.
