In my case I just don't wanna upgrade my PC to Windows 10 because of Compatibility reasons.

I still have my Diablo 1 installed with the Color Fix patch and I have my Morrowind patched with the Graphics Extender. And the sudden upgrade can somehow ruin the games/programs.

And I have heard cases of the upgrade from 7/8 to 10 has bricked some people's PCs entirely.

If I want a Windows 10 Computer Device, I'd just buy a new PC that has one, preferably a Laptop.

Happened to me. I didn't want to update till I finished some games that aren't supported on Windows 10, but it auto-updated anyway because I forgot to reschedule. Of course I was in the middle of my first Gothic 2 play-through, and naturally the game wouldn't launch after updating. Though, I found out that was AVG's fault, and I had to brute-force manually delete it because the uninstaller wouldn't work on Windows 10. =\ All's well now, and I think Gothic 2 actually runs smoother than before.

It has nothing to do with legally questionable activities, its that MS and its partners have no business monitoring, tracking or sharing information on me or my family's activities online. It is the virtual equivalent of having a peeping tom sitting outside your window all day and night, watching every private detail of your life. Even if you never do anything illegal, would you really be okay with that?

Congratulations, you haven't had the displeasure of MS acting as your PCs nanny. Not everyone is so lucky (or maybe you just haven't noticed something missing, MS doesn't tell you when they do it). In my case, both pieces of software are not only obtained from legitimate sources (directly from the dev/publisher), but they also have years worth of trustworthy usage behind them. There was absolutely no reason for them to be removed, other than the fact that both can do things MS doesn't like, such as editing the registry. MS can't have that, we might do something like permanently disable their forced updates.

So you don't care what they are collecting on you, that's your business, but I and many others do, especially when the personal data of websites and services seem to get hacked on weekly basis. MS is not immune, no matter how much they may believe their (our) data is impregnable. The sheer volume of data Win 10 collects is more than enough to steal an identity at the very least, god forbid they use it for something more malicious.

Man, I didn't know they were forcibly upgrading people. That kind of blows my mind, and I figured I had seen enough that that wasn't possible. I do have one Win7 machine that ignores my setting to only manually install updates and does them anyway. I don't think it's been getting targeted for any of the win10 update stuff, but would be pretty pissed if it just up and upgraded all by itself. Would probably die trying seen has how the OS drive is almost maxed out.

There is a mysterious 20GB of data on my HD I'm not sure where it's hiding at the moment. And my internet has been slowing to a crawl without explanation for a few days now. Maybe I'm getting a surprise.

I have 10 on my laptop which stopped being able to go to sleep after the last update . It just kills everything and turns off when it should be sleeping, apparently ignoring my power settings. Seep still actually works, but only if I manually do it. It's slowed everything down, and constantly nags me about closing things to save RAM when I have 2GB going unused, and has some great need to get me to try Office365. Not interested in having more of the Win10 experience in my life right now.

The sketchy parts of the internet are now the most dangerous part of the internet. Steer clear of Christian religious sites and keep to the porn and you're much less likely to get infected.

That's the best kind! The more data that is available, the better their predictive algorithms are at serving up content and advertising to us. Have you not heard the story of how Target figured out a teenage girl was pregnant before her own father knew, just by data mining her shopping habits? Win 10 provides MS with way more data than Target had available when they did that, I can't even imagine what they (and whoever they sell the data to) could do with all that info.

I still have them both and I have auto updates turned on for my Windows 10. Are you sure it's because of Windows 10 updates?

And it's not on one machine also. I have fifty machines here with exact same software configurations albeit slightly installed supporting software (for instance, I have Steam on my laptop I'm using to type this message, while others don't have).
