drealmer7: Again, I recommend CCleaner! There was actually a time where that was all I used, without even MSE, and it kept me virus free with no anti-virus software for many years.
_Slaugh_: CCleaner will not remove any rogues, ransomwares, backdoors, keyloggers, rootkits and bootkits. It's a "cleaning" tool that removes temporary files, purges the browsers' cache, history, sessions and cookies, and fixes errors in the registry. It's an extremely helpful application (which I personally use), but it's not enough to ensure a proper protection. It will never replace a good antivirus / antimalware. I highly suggest you to download and install , it's one of the best antimalwares, it's free and it will not interfere with your current antivirus. Other useful applications are [url=http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/adwcleaner.html]AdwCleaner, Kaspersky TDSSKiller and Dr.Web CureIt. For power users, there are also and [url=http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/combofix/]Combofix, but you need to be very careful when you use them! For safe browsing, AdBlock Plus and are very helpful, as well as checking URLs with [url=https://www.virustotal.com/en/]VirusTotal before visiting obscure websites. One of the best antiviruses is the common sense!
I'm not recommending MSE, it's one of the weakest antiviruses. Avira Free Antivirus is a better choice, as long as you uncheck all their offers (Avira SafeSearch, Avira SearchFree, etc). If you're willing to pay, I strongly recommend ESET Nod32 Antivirus, which is lightweight, reliable and fast, and offered in 32 and 64 bit versions. It can be installed on older computers without slowing them down.

About antivir software, I think they do more harm than good, so I don't use any. But MSE is the shit, as you can find online. My least hated is avira.
I would also advise to install addons like noscript into your browser.
I used it before the one I posted above, and it was good too. I find the one I currently use less "bumpy" though. Totally subjective, so I recommend you search some ranking and narrow it down to your preferences.

drealmer7: I don't find it to be good spirit most of the time. Most of what he does is derail or just say stupid or ignorant shit because he thinks it is funny, or further, he thinks it is funny to troll/upset people intentionally. Once in a great while he makes a post I don't have issues with or I actually find funny, but that is quite rare. I'm really sick of it and it has been going on since before I started in the forums. When I initially came to participate in the forums, I got sucked into the stupidity of TinyE and had a horrible experience here and didn't come back for months, and I'm sure he's having this effect on many people. I wish he'd just fucking leave as I see him mostly as a cancer of the forums. Of course, he's likely the sort of ass that will stay even longer now that I said that.
TinyE is too good a guy for being offensive and is not that annoying. You should look more forums to look what a real troll / asshole is.Post edited July 05, 2015 by javihyuga

I have very rarely seen tinyE being offensive. Usually it's thin skinned individuals taking offence to something not particularly offensive.I would also advise to install addons like noscript into your browser.

I'd like to know what the racist comment was.
In fact I dare you to back up one thing you just posted with an actual example. If you can I will be more than happy to apologize and do whatever I can to make amends for such comments, short of leaving the forum.
And I remember blocking you. I did it because you were being an asshole. :P

OH WAIT I REMEMBER!!!! XD
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Remember a few months, maybe a year ago, Sachys had this fixation with sausages going on? Whenever he could, he threw the word in there. Someone could as what time it was and he'd answer "time for sausages!"
Well there was a conversation regarding GOG going on (new releases I think) and I said something regarding 'I can't wait for them to start selling sausages!' and asshead here took it as a racist comment against Polish people and starts throwing a temper tantrum in the forum. XD
I have the PM here but I'm going to be decent enough not to post it without drealmer's permission.
Damn right I blocked him. He kept PMing me to tell me I was a racist so eventually I posted that we obviously weren't jiving together and we should just avoid each other, so I blocked him and had since totally forgotten the whole thing. :P
I'm defending myself from someone else who just interrupted the thread. How come you didn't get on drealmer's ass? Tell me where in his last post it mentions computer viruses?
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Thank you for that list, Slaugh! Is the Kaspersky free for non-Kaspersky users?
I had to disinfect a friend's system not too long ago. What worked for me was:
Norton Power Eraser - but be careful as this may be somewhat aggressive. It may have quarantined my friend's previous antivirus, but I'm not certain as I don't think her antivirus was working to begin with. Also, this comes with an UNDO feature should you feel it did more bad than good.
Other tools of use:
Avira Rescue CD is updated frequently with antivirus definitions, so no need to have to download definitions from the infected computer. This one froze up on me the last time I used it, unfortunately.
BitDefender Rescue CD is another one with some extra tools, but is a bootable CD into a Linux GUI. I'm not going to link this one because I had issues of it asking for username and password which some systems end up getting. It was slightly more difficult finding the right commands for this... something like "livecd" Knoppix thing. (I left my notes on the friend's computer.) If you are interested, I could find it. Once I did get it running, it seemed like a viable tool.
Lastly, Emsisoft Emergency Kit is a portable but NON-bootable antivirus app.
All of these are free to use for non-business use.
