So we can't request tech support any longer? All I get is a useless bot that keeps ignoring what I'm typing. Trying like made to fix a gaming rig for my sister and Gog Galaxy JUST WON'T START no matter what I do. Have completely deleted and reinstalled it and all it does is spin at the login for hours. She has a LOT of recently purchased game that are new enough to make offline installation impractical, as she NEEDS auto-updating, and won't be able to do it manually.

What does a person have to do to get help here?
Steps:
Uninstalled Galaxy
Delete the appdata\local\gogcom folder
Restart
Reinstall galaxy from this installer as admin: https://webinstallers.gog-statics.com/download/GOG_Galaxy_2.0.exe
--DO NOT INSTALL INTO PROGRAM FILES pick someplace else!
Restart
verify its allowed in firewall
once verified it has access in firewall execute as admin

You can get tech support. The bot is there to run you through all possible articles and suggestions before it allows you submit a ticket, as it helps take a bit of the burden off of the support team (who tends to be overworked).

It's really not that big of a deal. You run through it real quick, it asks you a few questions and if it doesn't give you a solution, it lets you submit a ticket. Of all the complaints re: GOG these days, the ones about the support bot seem the least sensible to me.
In regards to dealing with the bot as little as possible and to have it create a ticket as fast as possible this usually works well enough:

1) Compose whatever you want the ticket to say pertaining to your issue in the text editor or wordpad
2) Copy everything
3) And paste it into the bot chat window
4) It's going to suggest a few things, always continue with the "Nothing of the suggested is of any help" option
5) Enter your email address when it's asking for it
6) Paste your text again
7) It's going to confirm that a support ticket has been created

JakobFel: You can get tech support.
I'm still waiting on a ticket from January 1st where I only had one reply on January 24th.
My other ticket, from February 15th was closed on April 11th, with the standard "I'll pass this on to the team. No idea when they'll fix it" response.
That's the response I've received repeatedly and the issues aren't addressed months or over a year later. Some are well known and have been around for ages, like half the leaderboards in Ruiner being broken, or achievements for Deus Ex being a mangled mess.

You can avoid the bot altogether with a user style.

So, not exactly existencial critical issues?

There's no excuse to never fix anything, no matter how easy it is to do so, even years after the initial reports. And urgent issues like being locked out of the account or non-wallet refunds take weeks to be addressed at best.
THANKS for all the replies. Was apparently just a server issue as it's all up again.
Just really through me off since it's been working so well for so long. As for the Bot, I understand it's the reality of our time, but really is nearly useless.

I wasn't referring to wait times but my guess is that you either didn't submit a new reply or ask a blue about it. Literally EVERY time I submit a ticket, if there's a wait, one of those two things helps.

And I concur with BreOl72, those aren't critical issues and they sound like issues that'd be on the developers' end, rather than GOG's, at least in part. It's no surprise GOG support responded in that way for an issue like that.

I just received a response today, 4/25/22, for a ticket I created on 3/12/22.
It didn't address my specific question.

If anyone thinks six weeks for a response is good customer service, then keep watching the CD Project SA stock plummet.

Nope, no more.

My reply is the latest on the ticket from January 1st. I replied the same day I got the response, January 24th.
No, I didn't message a staff member at any point. That's not how support is supposed to work. If everyone forms this habit for any issue, it won't be long before this avenue will be just as overloaded as regular support.

Non-critical doesn't mean it's okay to never fix the problem. And it's never okay to make people wait weeks or even months for a response. There's no way to receive tech support in any meaningful sense, waiting weeks between replies. It's outrageous that they still have the "Stellar support 24/7" lie boldly plastered onto every store page.

• Those were just a couple of examples of known longstanding issues. They respond the same way -- "I'll pass this on" -- to virtually everything, including website issues. One of my tickets was closed that way on November 28th. The incorrect part of a game's description in the store hasn't been corrected even now.
• Other known issues include the store not correctly marking content as owned. There was at least one exhaustive thread about this, but I can't find it now. One notable example is Witcher 3 GOTY, which doesn't mark the base game or any DLC as owned.
• The Community Wishlist is full of spam dating as far back as 2015 -- just search for http in the Features category.
• The wishlist filters are a completely broken mess. I reported this on February 18, 2021 and I'm sure they were well aware but didn't care long before that.

And the list goes on and on.

My issues with GOG Galaxy 2.0 (a really buggy, clunky and twitchy piece of software that works ok with a small pile of games, but just can't handle really big libraries, and never will), have never been adressed, rarely ever got an answer and when I got it, it was some copy-paste slap in the back that didn't solve anything.

It really does not matter anymore, GOG being but a shadow of its former self, not being able to serve any more "good old games" because of license issues or simply lack of interest, their business model now is selling nondescript indie games that no one gives a d*mn about, or lousy ports of forgotten arcade games no one remembers, most of which are DRM-free somewhere else anyway.

My only hope about GOG is that it does not fall and close without notice, because then I'd lose my huge library of "good old games" I bought in better, more civilized times, if I don't download them to some big HDD, and they are a ton. GOG lost its course when it decided to compete with Steam and Humble on their game, instead of keeping loyal to its roots. That's what happens when you try to make money doing what others do bigger and do better. Now they're up to the throat with problems, and customer support downfall is usually one of the first and obvious symptoms.
