tfishell: https://twitter.com/THR/status/1238102498193346567 mentions "PC version through online storefront Steam" so it may be a Steam exclusive.
dr.schliemann: Mmm, let's wait for an official statement of the publisher about this. If I'm not mistaken, all
Nightdive Studios' games are available here.
The digitally re-released version of Night Trap, which Nightdive (I think?) were involved in to some capacity would be one which isn't.
A day-one release of Doom 64 on GoG next week is unlikely too. Would be glad to be proven wrong though.
dr.schliemann: The question is: will the remastered version offer more than the classic one?
Making the game available on consoles is good, but the PC version is already available here and it runs fine even on modern systems thanks to
ScummVM.
The classic Scumm-powered version should have the edge over the enhanced edition as far as additional content is concerned. This additional content is still in the process of being restored by the Scumm team, but that's still an advantage over this remastered version, at least for the time being.
If you couldn't care less about "
updated character models, animations and cutscenes, as well as widescreen resolution support, keyboard and controller customization" you might just stick with the classic version as well.
This KEX engine Nightdive are using for the enhanced edition also has a somewhat checkered reputation.
The Blood: Fresh Supply port which also runs on KEX didn't improve upon the original version all that much, and if I remember correctly, even "improved" some things for the worse. Don't know if those kinks have been ironed out in the meantime though.
