Nightdive Studios has announced a new partnership with Alcon Entertainment for an Enhanced Edition of Blade Runner. According to the press release, Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition will be using the KEX Engine.

The question is: will the remastered version offer more than the classic one?
Making the game available on consoles is good, but the PC version is already available here and it runs fine even on modern systems thanks to ScummVM.

I must say that it's quite annoying to see that no article mentions that Blade Runner is already available on GOG.

Good point.
I also add that, while I would like the enhanced edition to be released here on GOG, I truly hope that the original version won't be removed in favor of the remastered one.

The Gamespot article about this mentioned the original version being on GOG.

Though the just link to a previous article about the GOG release rather than linking directly to GOG.

I'm sure it's written by an individual that thinks if it's not on Steam, it's not worth mentioning. /sigh

As to the news, maybe I'm too respectful but I hope the enhancements will only be visual.

Cool. I wish they would still do something with Turok 3 though. maybe not profitable enough to justify the cost though

Mmm, let's wait for an official statement of the publisher about this. If I'm not mistaken, all Nightdive Studios' games are available here.

The digitally re-released version of Night Trap, which Nightdive (I think?) were involved in to some capacity would be one which isn't.
A day-one release of Doom 64 on GoG next week is unlikely too. Would be glad to be proven wrong though.

The classic Scumm-powered version should have the edge over the enhanced edition as far as additional content is concerned. This additional content is still in the process of being restored by the Scumm team, but that's still an advantage over this remastered version, at least for the time being.

If you couldn't care less about "updated character models, animations and cutscenes, as well as widescreen resolution support, keyboard and controller customization" you might just stick with the classic version as well.

This KEX engine Nightdive are using for the enhanced edition also has a somewhat checkered reputation.
The Blood: Fresh Supply port which also runs on KEX didn't improve upon the original version all that much, and if I remember correctly, even "improved" some things for the worse. Don't know if those kinks have been ironed out in the meantime though.

Which is most of the sites to be fair, why i've never seen much value in press releases being a core focus over simply just telling the public in your own way

Nightdive does have most of their games here I believe, not all but quite a few. I haven't seen any mention of any PC service other than Steam though. at least I'll get to have all my games in one place on Steam and use Steam's features.
So GOG gets this game back in the spotlight and then someone else swoops in and steals it off elsewhere... sounds about right. :/

Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition was developed and published by Screaming Villains.
DOOM 64 is published by Bethesda which owns id Software, so I agree that it will probably not be released here anytime soon.
