I literally laughed my hat off when I saw this in my news feed today. I've waited 2 years for PSC to become available before finally getting myself a prepaid credit card 2 weeks ago... Talk about fate having no sense of humour :)

But honestly: Very good work GOG on making this available!

(... Does that mean that Linux versions of games are not impossible to hope for after all, if only people request it often enough? ;) )
Congratulations
looks like i chose the best time to sign up. I don`t own no cc so i a always use paysafecard for all my online stuff.
Good to know!!
Can the rest of us outside of Europe have Gog.com wallet cards soon?
I've never heard about it, and yet when I checked where I can get such a card near me, I was surprised that there are a TON of retailers in my city.

Not too happy about GoG.com deciding to add this payment method to their list.

1) It is gift card like. Meaning you tend to give away money for no return.
2) It caters to a low income niche population. Yes you jobless kiddos and folks with more than three maxed out credit cards are low income.

Visa and Master are available world wide. Germany, U.S. to India and further. I don't see the point in this.
You call yourself "GoG" and now attempt to cater to minors who happen to grab moms or dads cash?

I'm sorry I have to be so negative about it.
Please offer me a good argument to actually persuade me to believe that this is a reputable move.

So you don't like it because "screw poor people and kids?" Wow. Just wow.

Did you really completely miss the reasoning?

1) It's not a gift card. It's a pre-paid card that you can use in quite a few places. So you don't give GOG money, you add money to an internet wallet (kinda like paypal, without paypal). In countries other than Germany, you can still combine multiple paysafe cards, so there isn't any wasted money

I know that PaysafeCard is something my father would use because he doesn't want to give any card details over the internet. He still had a Lloyds credit card with a limit of ~200 pounds for that very reason and he hasn't been to England for more than 30 years. Neither jobless, nor kiddo, nor someone with more than three maxed out credit cards.

Quite a few people from Germany have posted in the past that they had trouble getting credit cards, can dig up those posts if you want.

No, and no. They call themselves GOG, and take a look at Terms of Use, specifically the "Age Restrictions" part.

People asked for it, and people can use it to buy games. It doesn't affect you any way.

Combining fixed sum cards with standard retail prices being odd decimals. Please do some math about the likelihood of you not turning a null value donation to the company offering the service. The majority of consumers using paysafe will inevitably donate some sum of money to the paysafe benefactors.

I am glad that your father is aware of the threat that identity theft is.
Being a witty man as your father is he can surely see how awful the returns of paysafe venture is. Visa and Master often come with fraud protection nowadays so there is even less reason to be overly cautious.

I am from Germany and can tell you that 99.9% of the group described by you will be minors. Credit cards in Germany are almost as available as in the U.S. which means that you can get them at the local Kiosk next to a bag of Gummibears.

Indeed. That's exactly why I am so critical of this move.

It does not affect me one bit, true. I still care where consumerism and this website is going as I have enjoyed and supported it for some time now.
I do not enjoy the sight of already very limited people being picked dry of their last cent that could have been better spent in say... education, food or helping their parents pay bills.
Thank you.

I live in the US. I hold a mastercard.Because I live in the US and GOG has their transaction clearinghouse through Cypress, My bank by default automatically refuses transactions through GOG. I have had to contact my bank to get them to repair such issue and they cite it being an automatic "protection" because they state the higher number of fraudulent transactions that go through countries like cypress that the US does not have top tier diplomatic relations with. Also, Paypal is no alternative either considering that the credit card will hold the same restriction regardless if it is direct or through paypal if the funds go to one of their "flag" countries.

Last year I ended up missing out on 35$ worth of savings during the Christmas sale because of this because it took my card company Friday through Monday to reapply the temporary 3 month "international allowance" to re-enable me to buy from GOG that had expired. When I did finally get the issue fixed so I would not have to have it redone every 3 months, it still became an issue after that card was stolen and had to have a new card re-issued. Today I am back on the 3 month allowances trying to get this fixed for my current card.

My case and bank is just one of many examples out there like this. This is a feature that was not only needed, its implementation is gratefully well received by many GOG users or else the request would have not had near as much support as it did on wish list. Just because you do not see the point or it does not effect you does not mean that it is not highly relevant to others. It just means you did not take the time or effort to look past your own perspective.

On topic: Thank you GOG. I would have preferred seeing Amazon payments implementation, but this serves as a very important back up plan to me personally for when this becomes a personal problem again, which is literally due again any day now.

Thank you for citing this issue.
I am still baffled. I am a dual citizen of the US and Germany and have accounts in both countries. I have never ever had any kind of payment issues with Chase, Bank of America, Postbank or the Sparkasse.
I was also not aware that Visa or Master were nationally supervised. They are global traders with their own fraud detection tools. I would have run in to that issue with my American MasterCard at least once, no?
