And to add insult to injury, they're going to broadcast just the first episode on regular TV. This new series should be renamed Star Crack!

I might have replied to the wrong message with that. Someone posted (can't find it now) that the new series will likely fail because old Star Trek fans don't like what's been done in the movies. I only tried to point out that it looks like a lot of people do like the movies and therefore not only could a series in the style of the movies have success, but it's entirely possible that the dislike for the movies is a minority opinion, of "hardcore trekkers".
Early TNG (first few seasons, although the first was the worst) was terrible in terms of writing, direction and original ideas. Ham fisted scripts of no interest, with annoying characters and a camera that spent hours switching from face to face as they stood impassively (okay, I may be exaggerating just a bit). B5 was much better (even if a little over-acted at times).

Sidenote- Shatner made a documentary about the early problems of TNG. Quite an interesting little thing, at least for the fans.

I've learned to appreciate the good parts of the early years of TNG. I still think Doctor Pulaski was more fun than that wet blanket Crusher.
And I agree, I also like Pulaski more than Crusher. It's a pity she never showed up again, possibly in DS9 or Voyager.

Am I the only one Star Trek fan who actually enjoyed the new movies. Though not really treky but still entertaining imho.

must be! I despised the 1st one so much (it's what made me realize that Abrams is The Ruiner) I never even bothered with the 2nd, and will not watch any future movies either.

I've mentioned it before here many times- I really like the first one, and even the second one has a lot of good things about it and is entertaining. The hate they're getting is rather silly and somewhat annoying seeing how much praise muche worse movies get, but one has to learn to ignore it or go insane.

I liked Voyager.
but if I'm being completely honest, I liked Seven's ass most of all the Voyager shit.
I still lament the way that they ended it though. it sucked. they never had any klingons on that show. then they had that Klingon ghost ship. that's what they should have used to take the show out. those Klingons, would tie in to the end of the series. they would play some pivotal role in this domino effect of circumstances involving the borg, the caretaker, transwarp hubs, martok, the enterprise, and in the end the lost Klingons would do something to open up a permanent method of travel to the delta quadrant. this would solve all loose ends with regards to Voyager and its crew, and give Voyager and its crew a healthy place in future Star Wars lore.

It will fail. CBS priorities are all F**ked up. Only the desperate will watch it. Since Gene's passing away. Every startrek since has flopped. Because no publisher or producer see his universe. They're doing there own version and that's not Startrek. Its for $$$ nothing else.
