I am looking forward for the day beamdog disappear from existence on this planet.
Bunch of talentless hackers, and parasite of the gaming dev industry.

Is there any millionaire here ??? :)
If yes then please for the love of ancient gods do us a favor and buyout the beamdog and then close them for good :D

golradir: Boy this is a blood thirsty bunch. i for one am looking forward to it. i will say this to all the people complaining about it. don't like it, don't buy its as simple as that. all i see is negativity. well if you can do better go ahead. i only see Beamdog working on it. if you can do better, call up bioware and let them know, maybe they'll give the project to you. long story short stop your bitching. end trans.
So we aren't allowed to share our opinions and our knowledge here about this company and this game? Who put you in charge of this forum?

You should add Gearbox and EA to that list...

The only way I'll give them the benefit of the doubt is if they keep their dirty paws off the Diamond Edition, which they aren't going to do, so fuck 'em.
Here's one of your comments from the blog post:
Thanks for the positive comment, Cody. And yeah, I have been critical of Beamdog's IE:EEs, both here and on their forums. The original Infinity campaigns are... precious to me... but Aurora was always a modding platform, and so I'm not too fussed by the changes they make providing they maintain community content compatibility, which they are striving for.
This is pretty much the most important part here.

I'm cautiously optimistic about a modern 64-bit Linux binary and improved interface. The mods are where the real content is, and as long as they work in the interface - I'll be happy.

Yeah, it will cost more than it should, but at the end of the day, I'm still looking forward to it.
I, for one, would find it awesome.

The changes isn't the issue though. It is the removal of the classic from the stores, so they can stuff a straw into the artery of yet another beloved game, and suck it dry. If they hadn't removed the classics from the stores everytime they "improve" a game it would have been a non-issue.
Cautiously optimistic, comes down to price, as the orig work with a small amount of tinkering.

Not quite. The Beamdog bashing started long before the originals were removed from the store.

And of course, they haven't actually been removed from the store - they're double the price, and you get a free enhanced edition with them :)

They got bashed for that rotten SoD first, yes. I guess people didn't enjoy a gigantic plot-hole being shoved in between BG1 and 2. And when they voiced a negative opinion about it, they got labeled Gamergaters and transphobes and the like. Even trans gamers got labeled that.

So they got bashed for that, and then for the bundling, and then when they got caught lying (for over a year) about who did the bundling. So...they are being bashed for three reasons, really.

Yes they have been removed from the store. You can't buy them separately now. And the extras have been removed from the classics, so Beamdog can sell that stuff separately. If you already had the classic it is no issue. The soundtrack is included there. But if you never had it, you aren't getting it with the EE download code for the classics.

Which means you have to pay 3-4 times more for the classics with the extras now.

The bashing started long before SoD too, right at the release of BG1:EE.

When it was first released, there was major uproar about:
- the fact that they were charging $20 for the $10 original + free mods (which isn't true, you can't fully achieve all of the improvements of the EE with mods, but, I digress).
- the fact they broke compatibility with existing mods
- the additional content
- the new bugs

I won't defend Beamdog / Overhaul. They've done some stupid things, and they've earned much of the hatred they receive. Their games are overpriced for what they are.

I know I'm in the minority around here, but I really like the EE versions. I'd rather play the EE versions than the originals. If I calculate the enjoyed-hour per dollar on the EE games, they still come out well ahead of lots of other games I've purchased.

We have different definitions of "removed". They haven't been removed from the store. You can still buy everything you could before, it will just cost you more. Descent 1 & 2 are removed from the store. You can't buy them at all.
I just find it incredible that people still choose to support a company that uses despicable business practices and continually shits on (non-toady-sycophantic) users. It's clear why: selfishness.

Could you clarify what publisher you are talking about here? The list is quite long for comparability on that statement

I think one of the main problems is that most big devs and publishers treat their customers like shit. So if gamers restricted themselves to buying games from consumer-friendly companies, they honestly wouldn't have much to play.

That being said, I do agree we should punish the worst ones by simply not buying their games, but unfortunately most gamers don't seem to share that opinion.

The thread title is "Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition". No clarification is necessary.
