liquidsnakehpks: Wow this is one slow development game , i stopped checking on the updates a few months back and nothing significant has been done apart from the same fixe bugs from previous patch and loop... I wonder if its wise to release something this incomplete to replace a fully complete version like nwn diamond....

Also how frequent will the gog version will be patched up ? no info on the multiplayer galaxy only ?
Actually, the slow development can significantly be attributed to the desire of the developers to focus on the GOG release - they already have a 64bit build working which they put on hold in order to get this out.

Maxvorstadt: May I ask what`s the difference between Diamond Edition and Enhanced Edition?
avatar
joppo: A higher price, first and foremost. But also the removal of soundtrack to be sold separately.

Well, not all of it is Good News™ like these. According to posters before me Beamdog worked on some graphical updates and a 64-bit engine. I would go check how much actually changed but I'm at work. They didn't need to add widescreen support as with their other EEs, but the price rise was the same. Now it's up to you to decide whether these modifications are worth the price hike.
64 bit build is actually working. On hold because, to comply with popular demand, BD decided to focus on getting GOG build out first.

Dark_Ansem: when the decision is entirely of GOG's
Personally, I don't suspect the decision to be solely made by Beamdog, but that's a bit of an odd claim.
I mean, GOG has the right to pull games from their own store, but giving them away with another product probably requires the permission of the rightsholder/publisher.

And, as I said to the one who likes to roll his eyes, AFA what GOG shows, Bioware & Hasbro hold the IP rights to the Diamond Edition, while BD holds the IP for the Enhanced Edition.
Sort of makes sense from GOG's POV to pull the older version.

mk47at: What free upgrade?
I misunderstood the OP.
I thought the new version would be a free upgrade, but that's not the case!

I don't know how I ended to think that way, Maybe I read what I wished for, rather than the actual text!

I've corrected my previous post. Thanks!

nightcraw1er.488: Cool, so beamdog will be having an extra long beach holiday next year then.
Amazing how Dire Straights managed to predict this company so many years ago...

Dark_Ansem: How exactly is Beamdog responsible for the takedown of the Diamond edition when the decision is entirely of GOG's?
As far as I am aware it has nothing whatsoever to do with GOG. Beamdog have removed, for all previous "enahanced" versions, the original from the store at the point they push out the "enhanced" version. It is their business model and they cannot leave the original there as a comparison (someone might notice there is no difference at all but the price).
If of course you don't believe me, just read up on the history of BG1 & IWD.

InkPanther: Thanks for letting us know.

Can you tell us if it will come with Linux version?

E: Oh, and for current owners, will there be some reasonably priced way to upgrade to EE?
The current edition IS the enhanced edition.

The pure sh*t moon-beamdog puts out it is why GOG has to make these announcements and why people want the ability to still buy the originals versions.
They want to pull the older stable version in order avoid a embarrassment if the older versions started outselling the so called EE edition. Its like people preferring windows 7 over windows 10 . just like ms they would rather bundle the old edition free and force everyone to buy EE over letting both on the store.

My point was simply that claiming it to be solely GOG's decision is just as baseless as claiming it to be masterminded by Beamdog.

On a sidenote: assuming you meant the game pages, GOG doesn't show anything about IP rights, it simply lists the developer and publisher.
Is this this week's Enigmatic Hint?

nightcraw1er.488: So how much more will this "enhancement" cost?
avatar
221bBS: Neverwinter Nights Diamond is listed on GOG as 9.99 USD.
Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition is listed on Stean as 19.99 USD.

So, It will cost 10.00 USD more.
They're probably going to debundle the soundtrack and sell that seperatly for $9.99, so there's that to factor in too.

How does beamdog get their hands on the rights to these games? How much did it cost them?
Finally, an end to the release date (and associated details) speculation! For now, at least, until the "gog is an hour/day/week/month behind Steam" threads begin. I guess I should praise you diehard EE fans for keeping the faith for so many months, fed only by vague PR rumors (well, actually, many of you bought it on Steam already, but I guess you'll be buying it on gog as well).

Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet, Mommy? I really have to pee. And soon: Are we there yet? Do I care yet? I used to care about NWN and gog, but some particular gog users and staff have considerably lessened my enthusiasm.

Oh, and by the way, for those of you who have bought this, how has the whole Steam Workshop thing been resolved? I never did get an answer for that, other than effectively stating that there is no issue without any further details. I guess that since the gog mixes are broken, at least it has no chance of getting on the "treating gog users as second-class citizens" mix.

Sorry, this is the last post I'll ever make in a thread with either of my favorite users in it. Be happy it isn't in the more publicly visible release thread, although you can always just censor me if you like.
