timppu: I'm sure I've asked this before, but what are the main benefits of running games in ScummVM instead of, say, DOSBox? Is it the portability, ie. running on Android tablets?
I kinda like DOSBox because there you don't have to wait or check whether a game is supported by it. All DOS games just work in DOSBox.
Unless I'm mistaken, there was no DOS version of Myst. Sure you can install Windows 9x is DOSBox and then install Myst in that but ScummVM is much simpler in this case. The Curse of Monkey Island is another example that comes to mind.
Edit: Actually Myst was released earlier than I thought. Windows 3.11 should do the trick and that is a lot easier to install in DOSBox than 95 or 98. So it's up to your preference, I guess. I personally have a DOSBox app for iOS but ScummVM is still stuck in jailbreak land so that's one reason I favour DOSBox, myself, whenever possible.
Edit 2: There are also a few games I bought that don't include the executables so I have no choice in the matter. The version of Maniac Mansion included on the Day of the Tentacle CD, for example.
