Xeshra: Besides, the game will need a "always online" and in this case as well a "account DRM", which means, although it can be played solo, it can NOT be played offline, according to the data i got.
I do not know this game, it looks to me mainly a space shooter with a good bundle of sim elements as well. Surely lesser "sim elements" vs. X-series, but way more vs. Everspace 2.
Partially true.
Yes on the ''
account DRM'' part. Apart from loging in from Steam you had to create an account to play online. Once connected however, I think you did not even have to be online to play. (
obviously the option to play online is grayed out then.) You could just start the semi-launcher and go.
Mind you -- my info is years old - so it might be outdated and you, indeed, need to be always-online; even while playing single-player.
On the sim-part.
It has 3 branches - combat; trading; exploration.
There are ships suited for each of these roles. There is no one-size-fits-all; you would have to swap out ships. Having your ''trading'' ship delived to another solar systems takes time and costs credits.
There were/are players who are doing just 1 of these branches.
A semi-genre of ''trading'' is also ''people transportation''. Can be combined nicely with exploration.
---
If you go into the social aspect of the game - there is also fun to be had there.
There was an event many, many years ago where players would gather materials to build a large ship.
Once the ship was built, everyone could dock their ships there.
It would jump into an otherwise inaccessible solar system.
Obviously everyone took their exploration ships.
Discoveries, ahoy!
...
As soon as the ship entered the forbidden solar system they were swarmed by hostile alien ships. :|
Most players could not even leave the docking before being blown up.
That event is infamous.
