In the nearly 50 years since, no one I'm aware of has ever come that close to a realistic portrayal of hacking.
Indeed. The truth is, if Hollywood put one of their fancy cameras behind a skilled computer programmer while they were attempting to hack into computers over the Internet, it would more or less put everyone watching it completely to sleep. It would not be action packed, suspense filled or anything else that the film makers would be wanting their viewers to experience to build suspense and tension or provide any kind of dramatic effect because it is pretty much completely devoid of drama or any kind of suspense or emotion generating experiences really. It'd be an incredibly dull movie.
Having said that... *JUST ONCE* I'd like to see someone make a movie that portrayed computer hacking properly anyway without any drama or stupid dialogue that makes no technical sense, just to be able to say out loud "wow, someone portrayed hacking correctly, I never thought I'd see that in a movie" to all my friends who wouldn't hear me because they'd have fallen asleep. :)
