drealmer7: Have you guys played Interstate '76? It takes driving sims to a whole new level!!!!! That's my favorite sim ever (flight or driving.)
Vythonaut: Yes, I've played it a long time ago. Not my kind of thing for sure. It's not a sim though, it's just a vehicular combat game. I don't remember having any sophisticated physics regarding the driving part and honestly, I fail to see how it brings driving sims to a whole new level... But please, do post some screenshots!
It has 2 modes action/simulation. One made it a bit more arcadey, while simulation had real physics. They even had it based to a high degree on the cars themselves, tires, breakes, engines, frames, etc., everything that you upgraded with etc., when you could salvage or buy different stuff, as well as how the different roads vs. dirt vs. oil slick, etc. affected the cars, AND, how the missles, mortars, and different caliber weaponry HIT the cars affected the physics.
That is how it takes driving sims to that next level, added combat. Sure there are flight-sims with combat, but not many car ones, all the car games that have combat are arcade/action, not sim, as far as I know, that is. In I'76 there is also a "choose a different vehicle and go into combat" type arena and maps you can go around in destroying great AI enemies. Very very well done all around.
The story, missions and maps, music, combat, are all top-notch for Interstate "76, imo. To me, it is one of my top 3-5 games of all time still.
Still have to get SSs, I got distracted elsewhere!
