Warloch_Ahead: You're right, this is just virtue signaling. We need to maximize pollution so there is no future, as opposed to having a bleak one.
It's pretty much the extremist agenda:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerationism Also flights taken by game studios are excluded from the calculation, so yeah, it could be argued to be virtue signalling.
Purchased Goods & Services
The studio was able to provide proof of purchase on hardware that was used
during the development of the game. The studio used two service providers
to aid with some aspects of development. While we were able to get data on
hours worked and their location, we were not able to get primary data on the
service providers’ precise energy consumption.
Apparently using cloud services doesn't count towards CO2 calculations either - and that is likely to be a huge part of CO2 production for a development studio - because the ratings only have to be 50% verifiable in the first year and Midgard itself has only been running for a year, so all their ratings are only 50% verifiable.
Maybe this promo is premature and we should come back next year?
