I'm not criticising either band or you liking either of them. I just found it to be an odd choice as an example of what metal is supposed to be given both band's more commercial leanings.
Not that there's anything wrong with that. But I just found it funny that you criticise one person's choice for not being 'true metal' then cite Children of Bodom as an example of what true metal is despite CoB's more commercial focus.

COB sounds like metal. COB is metal. Static X, the Static X songs I was thinking about at the time, do not sound like metal. I considered Static X to be industrial. It is as simple as that. :) I never said COB is "true metal". I was wrong though. Static X is not industrial. Static X is Nu metal. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But I just found it funny that you criticise one person's choice for not being 'true metal' then cite Children of Bodom as an example of what true metal is despite CoB's more commercial focus.

Static X is industrial metal. Sometimes considered nu metal, but not by me. But unmistakably metal either way. The main difference between them and regular industrial is that they're guitar-driven and something like KMFDM or Nine Inch Nails aren't (even though guitars might be a regular feature in both). There are lots of different kinds of metal out there. It doesn't have to all sound the same. Personally I think it's better for not. If you want a good example of industrial metal then check out Fear Factory. After all they're commonly credited with starting it all off.

There's hardly anything more boring then sub-genre or category wars.... the only thing that matters is, if it rocks.
