Too muddled to know for now - there's ideological reasons to see refugees in this, just as there are ideological reasons to not see refugees in this.

And you know what's worse? If and when the police identifies suspects their data will probably be protected, letting each group basically carry on un-informed with their assumptions. Without publishing names or addresses the immigration status of suspects would seem to be information of public interest and not individually sensitive. Agree?

Well, shooting fireworks / rockets at cops could make sense. If indeed that was the case this slides even more into riot / mass assault than it does theft on a grand scale. As if the theft was actually the incidental goal, rather than the other way around...

I was mainly concerned with subtitles in OTHER videos I've watched in addition to the linked one.

The idea that the sexual assault was mimicked or even learned behaviour from Cologne carnival culture is quite independent of the idea that these people are fully integrated Germans. Sure enough these subcultures can exist in Germany for many, many years without learning a shred of the language.

In Cologne, refugees are spread over 90 different living quarters in the entire city. Most of them only just arrived. The idea that they've organized themselves for this kind of spectacular heist is significantly less feasible than the other theories floating around. Again: Organized crime means no or hardly any refugees.

What we're seeing right now, what is in fact the content of Sascha Lobo's article (PaterAlf's link), is counter mobs forming from far right wingers. These are on the lookout for anything that looks foreign. Philantropist catastrophe. If they acquire knowledge of a target that police counts as a suspect (a mere suspect, a "could have been or maybe not"), I don't want to know what these people are going to do to him.

Police should keep absolutely everything under wraps. As to the immigration status of convicted delinquents, German justice may not at all be swift, but pretty damn inexorable.

The discussion is moot, of course, as likely not a single suspect will emerge out of this god damned mess.
