Elmofongo: Did you also know that someone converted Ultima 1 into a tabletop game?

Hmm seems it is free to print out and you can build the gameparts yourself.
Ancient thread is ancient.

I had forgotten about this RPG completely.

Probably because there is a glut of indie RPGs trying to be like their predecessors these days.
Looks interesting! Are there screenshots of the latest build?

Doesn't look much different from the screenshots on the homepage

The most interesting thing I saw in the video was the crafting

Is there a new video of the gameplay? The original video link is broken in the first post.

Thanks! i'll add a link to your post for others to see the trailer.
Looks interesting. But. What is getting hit with an arrow supposed to sound like (thought would be more of a *thunk* or meaty thump)? (sure sounds like a whip cracking every time) :)

Hey ho! Merry do, and all! Madman is done! Release Candidate #1, anyway. Thanks for the interest, guys. Its guys like yourselves that keep me going. I erased all the old stuff on youtube and put up two new trailers:

I just found it won't let me post links! No worry! Go to youtube and type:

Dr. Dungeon's madman and there will be two new ones, trailer #1 and #2

Plus the site has a few new screen shots. I upgraded the lighting a bit to be smoother.

Niggles! You're right. The arrow should thud! Its little details like this that I've been insisting on all along with madman, and I'm very serious about feedback from potential players.

It will go thud in the final version! Dr. Dungeon has spoken! :) -Rob

Please tell me GOG accepted it and didn't reject it. They make questionable rejections on occasion, and I'm pretty sure many of us here hope this isn't among them.

Thank you very much for continuing your labour of love, and for being in touch here. I know many in this community really appreciate it when developers communicate with their (potential) customers, especially when they are open to feedback! I can definitely relate to the joy of feedback spurring creation, and if it wasn't for this community I would not have resumed my own creative writing projects.

I am just about to watch the new trailers for your game. I'll link them for ease of access for others:

Dr Dungeon's Madman Trailer #1

Dr Dungeon's Madman Trailer #2

Edit: I am taking notes as I watch these and shall continue doing so tomorrow as I've had an exhausting day. I shall pass some feedback via this thread, as well as some via private message.

Thanks again for creating and sharing! :)

Short review: I love it!

My own creative writing and taking a disciplined approach to it for a change got the better of me today! I made a few notes when watching the trailers (better term is gameplay videos) last night and took a few notes until exhaustion overcame me. Rather than share a few brief notes now, I would prefer to give a comprehensive review of those videos. I succinct at suckness. Hmm that sounds wrong :P

PS - The music is brilliant and the level of interactivity with the environment definitely draws me in. The Ultima series, with 7: The Blake Gate (personal joke :P) being my favourite.

I plan to let it run a few days or so on steam greenlight, just to see what people say. Before GOG, the last thing I need is to set it up with a real installer - like Install Shield or something. I don't expect that to be too long. The very latest will be January, but it could be a lot earlier than that.

Also have a friend fixing up some errors on the steam presentation as I had trouble uploading screen shots and made a mistake with that awful "Mach Gryphon Castle" thing - its supposed to be the title screen, or perhaps one of the better screen shots. I have a friend correcting all this right now, so you may want to check the link again later. Thanks again!
