Startrail: Hiya! This is the last time I'll engage you on this topic. Then I'm afraid we'll just have to agree to disagree.
Goodo, and I guess we will have to do that. :)
Startrail: Unless you're telling me that Mafia 2 Director's Cut and Mafia 3 Director's cut can be obtained as of today, and thus given Mafia 2 and 3 definitive versions respectively, I'll be more than happy to add it to the lists. Unfortunately, that is sadly not the case.
It is the same reason why I did not add Enhanced Doom and Enhanced Doom II to the list. You can't buy Ultimate Doom and Doom II+Master Levels by themselves anymore. But yet for owners of Ultimate Doom and Doom II + Master Levels, they get the Enhanced versions free.
Well it depends on who these postings are for doesn't it.
Sure the majority may be coming here to see what the latest free game they can acquire is, while others will also be happy to be notified of something free that has just turned up in their library, that maybe they have missed or don't check often. I see no reason to not advise of any free games, even if some cannot get them. Personally I am not interested in games or DLCs that are free if you buy something, and don't come here for them at all. There are different types of free game scenarios, which is what I have been trying to illustrate.
----------------------------------------------
For the record though, when I backup my games to external hard drives, I do so in a structured manner to be most effective, especially when spread over more than one backup drive, allowing them to more easily fit.
One of the folders I use is called
GoG Freebies, which contains all the games I have gotten for free from GOG.
Mafia,
Mafia II: Director's Cut &
Mafia III do not go in that folder, they go in the folders for games that I have paid for, whereas bonus
Mafia II: Definitive Edition and
Mafia III: Definitive Edition do go in the
GoG Freebies folder, as do any other free games or versions, but not free DLCs, which just go into the same folder as the game they are for.
Demos or Prologues are also free, but they go into a folder called
GoG Demos.
So really, it is all about perspective ... mine clearly, is different to yours.
----------------------------------------------
Further to that to be more fully illuminating, any game that relates to a game in either
GoG Freebies or
GoG Demos, goes into a folder called
GoG Mate. That is where the original three Mafia games reside in a series folder called Mafia.
I divide things even further beyond those three game folders .... GoG Linux, GoG Classic, GoG Excess, GoG Movies and GoG Videos. And then the majority of GOG games, those that don't fit in those categories go into alphanumeric sub-folders. The
GoG Classic folder contains games that were originally released prior to 2002, whereas
GoG Excess is for those from 2017 and newer. Games are also stored in series folders, and governed by the year of the oldest game within. Every game has its logical place based on rules, and where there are set precedence.
The priority order is - GoG Movies, GoG Videos, GoG Linux, GoG Demos, GoG Freebies, GoG Mate, GoG Classic, GoG Excess, and then the main
GoG folder with alphanumeric sub-folders.
----------------------------------------------
Anyway, I digress and we should get back on topic. :)
