For the first time in my life, I am afraid of something real.

I am talking about the US toilet laws. I fear they will be accepted & they will spread.

Not because I'm transphobic, or whatever the new hip slur is. In fact, I have absolutely no reason to be transphobic & many, many reasons NOT to be. Trust me on this.

It's because of the children that rae being thrown to the hyenas just so the "grown ups" can feel good about themselves.

The laws are still being disputed & already there has already been at least one case of assault, of course not widely reported by the media.

There's also been a testimony that several children were out in an extreme awkward position by a middle-aged man.

So, children's rights are worthless/worth LESS than 0.3% of the population? What kind of cesspit are we turning the world into?

I don't know what to do. I don't know who to contact, or how to have my voice heard. I have never cared about politics. But right now, politics is putting children in immediate danger. We're sacrificing our young in the name of "tolerance".

If any of you knows somebody or has a way to have your voice heard, please I beg you - do something, or HELP ME do something.

I should point out a few things:

1. In the example quoted, consider the possibility that said middle-aged man is a trans man. In this case, a law that requires people to use the dressing room appropriate to their birth assigned sex would force him into the women's room. Is this really what you want?

2. In bathrooms, how often do you see somebody naked? Seriously, how often does that happen? (It happens even less in the women's room because there are no urinals there, and the stalls are closed off.)

3. Laws and policies that allow people to use the bathroom of the gender they identify as would not allow people to sexually harass people in the bathroom. Also, I note that transgender people harassing other people in the bathroom simply does not happen; you are far more likely to see the transgender person on the receiving end. (It's also worth noting that clergy and Republican politicians are far more likely to be sex offenders than transgender people. Should clergy and Republican politicians be required to use separate bathrooms?)

4. Finally, I should point out that transgender children exist. They, too, deserve equal rights.

You are spreading transphobia by not talking only about the problems of the oppressed minority.

There's an important hypothetical question worth asking in this situation: would it be a transgender issue if this man had decided to choke a small boy in a male bathroom instead? The barriers to either crime are exactly the same.

There is nothing hypothetical about it, it happens. Transphobic people tend to overlook things like that.

Guys, this is NOT about trans people.

Please, let's not go there. I too believe that trans people should have every right, including feeling comfortable in a public toilet, which I never have.

But not at the expense of children! What about THEIR rights?

How do you justify your tolerance by saying that the man has every right to be in a toilet that he feels comfortable while taking away the rights of all the children that were NOT comfortable?

Are middle-aged feelings more important than children's feelings?
