It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

happywinner: Or just use Steam anyway and fuck GOG already?? or back to torents...
GOG was better because of one of this critical "features"
They had already more then half job done, why throw it away and piss lot of users?

and you still not get it, 2MB VS 225MB or hungry unreliable webbrowser. or unreliable thirdparty app.
avatar
paladin181: If your web browser is "hungry and unreliable" get a different browser.
All webbrowser are hungry today, please educate yourself

There is miles difference between normal application js and c++

and again you dont need excel to calculate simple math , calc app is all you need...

Realy 225mb? WHO has that much free space????? I WANT THE 2mb option , gog downloader is a must.
And the clicks I don't want to click more than once to get my games , why the busywork without the downloader?

What is this js and c++?
Why would I want calc app when I have google office in the browser?

js - javascript (code language, generaly much worse performance then native code)

c++ - "native" code = much better performance, less bloatware (unnecessary libraries/code etc... ) only PRO programmers can do it, genius ones use assembly language but that would be overkill :)

Because there is reason why people all over world use standard simple kitchen knife to cut bread, instead of swiss knife...

Hmm I've asked some and they said js is better thats why it is the most used.

It is not better and never will be, please educate yourself.

It is most used because even simpletons can learn it , and in general JS code is always worse.

They said you are ignorant and you should follow your advise. Please educate yourself!

They also said that c++ is so buggy ,even if it was the fastest it would run into a bug and collapse the whole app.
Is that true?

Thing is, we already have 3 other threads with more info/posts on the topic which suffice for such already(now if this thread added a new angle or info to the topic then i'd more readily suggest it and be ok with it).

Also why would one link a thread one was already in atm? Seems a bit redundant....like googling google. :|

In this case(for those who use a browser they likely already have one of), it's more like one kitchen knife vs. a second kitchen knife from another knife maker.

nightcraw1er.488: There is nothing wrong with browser downloads.

Akka: Yes there is : several files to DL per game instead of just one click to get it all, pause/resume being pretty iffy, can't chain several DL (it's all concurrent).

If I wanted to get, for example, Divinity Original Sin 1 & 2 and Kingdom Comes Deliverance, I needed only to click on three links with the GOG Downloader, and I could pause and resume with a single click. Basically, I click three times, then I can forget it until it's done.
With web browser download, I have about twenty different files to manage, I have to check regularly to see if the specific file I'm DL is finished and I can start the next one or not, pausing is less reliable and it's basically micromanagement annoyance.
Same, there it is lot of wrong with browser download.

All browsers degraded to monotonous Google chrome/chromium, and "new hipster firefox" is not firefox we liked with addons (XUL) that actually do something useful (webaddons are just joke and crap from google)

They should not kill GOG Downloader , they should support it in first place.!

I will repeat it again, we don't need swiss knife when we want cut bread, we use simple kitchen knife....

happywinner: How you know?
More a general feeling/near certainty due to seeing many bots do the same before on the forums.

That user has been posting short lines in many threads that are somewhat ontopic but talking about nothing in particular or to anyone, then never posting to those threads again.....also they never reply to anyone who replies to them(not even asking why they got low rated).....all the hallmarks that most bots possess.

Also note the sign up date and amount of games.

GameRager: It's 70MB, NOT 70GB......do y'all have ancient 100GB HDDs that a few extra MBs matter that much?

Also the GOG DLer could also be seen as an unnecessary third party(in a way).
Ha ha, finally caught you out with unarguable proof, that you pretend to know more than you do.

The size he mentions (70 Mb) has nothing to do with HDD size. It is about how much is being used up in RAM when the program runs ... when the program loads into memory.

And that is why Galaxy runs so bad for many of us.

Remembering, that it isn't the only thing running in memory.

Like he said, for Galaxy anyway, unnecessary bloatware. Downloading or browsing to get a game should not be so demanding. Like I have said elsewhere, poor decisions over design and coding.

Visual has trumped practical. Just like DRM with most games has trumped practical playing and archiving etc considerations.
