gog2002x: Finished watching all 3 Hobbit movies (extended version wasn't avail. for me) and enjoyed the trilogy.
I assume these are the new ones? I watched the first one, sorta had to with my gf back in 2016 and i was very disappointed myself.

Anyways, watched Mary Poppins. Amazing how much is in there that i don't remember as a child, listening to the lyrics of the songs. On top of how different movies are made then vs now. (And not just the mixed animated handdrawn stuff)

I didn't know there were other versions, except maybe the animated version?

I watched Mary Poppins long time ago, and enjoyed it also. It was indeed colorful and lyrical and of course had good actors. I haven't seen many movies that like since.

You just reminded my Cool World with that mixed animated comment lol.

Enjoying movies is a matter of individual perspective I imagine.

Speaking of which, for me the 80s & 90s (even many late 70s) were an incredible era for me, not only for movies, but for tv shows, for games and even for book series. Many of my favorite songs are from those era! So glad I can listen to them on Youtube. My goodness, I could almost pass out from the sheer nostalgia that all brings.

Recently I discovered Tubi TV and Pluto TV and love re-watching old shows. (currently re-watching Battlestar Galactica (1979) series & Buck Rogers (70s) series)
.

honglath: Time Trap

A one-way time travel experience in a cave. Good to pass the time.
I do kinda prefer loops. Though if someone had found the cave realizing what it was, you could really use it well for making food hot in bulk and pushing it in, then pulling it out steaming hot and it would last forever, though how much room you'd have would be really limited.

ARQ, and Edge of Tomorrow are good ones.

Though if you don't mind gritty horror isekai anime, Re:Zero would be the one for you.
Lightyear (2022)

-Avoid as much as possible. Not a disaster, but easily can find something better to spend 2hrs
Nothing relevant nor memorable nor exciting
Take the shortcut reading a summary if interested on its weak story
-Zero extras (Dsney+)

CyberBobber: I watched new Matrix. It was honestly good.

I bet the game is coming to GoG.

action_fan: Do you mean Matrix Awakens or the old ones (Enter the Matrix, Path of Neo etc.)? Because the first one was released only on PS5 and XSX and was removed from their stores recently.
Matrix 2021.

Oh, new games I mean. Isnt there one in development.

I've found only one: tabletop card game, not any video one (or even a rumor about it). So we can only hope that some studio get a license and create something great like Alien: Isolation.
"Glorious" - You can interpret it as cosmic "Lovecraftian" horror, or just psychological horror.
Too Old for Fairy Tales (2022) (Za duzy na bajki)

Considering this was one of those movies I watched without any prior knowledge...
It was a nice surprise. And very refreshing because isn't from Hollywood but Poland
I appreciate the opportunity to watch culture from other places over the world:
Actors, lifestyles, rhythm, humor, social concerns/issues/dreams...
Considering all those elements, it definitely was entertaining to me.
Add good acting, interesting script and it got me hooked from the beginning to the end.
I wonder how my relative stumbled with it... and why Ntflix promoted it.
But who cares!: Finally a real & good recommendation!
Not just their boring so-predictable re-re-re-fried dumb useless I-already-saw-all-those-movies lists!

If you folks from anywhere over the world are reading this,
Go ahead and recommend movies from your countries available on the streaming platforms! Present and past...
Thanks in advance!
More than watch I rewatched some movies:

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: As good as always.

L.A. Confidential: As good as I remember.

The Rings of Power: This show never take off...

Not from my country, but I quite enjoyed the Spanish hommage to 80s/90s coming-of-age movies, Live is Life, on Netflix, recently.

***
As for German movies, I'm not sure if there are many contemporary ones that would be of interest to people abroad, and I can't judge which ones would be accessible (with subtitles) or even available outside of German-speaking countries. In Germany, Netflix has a few better known ones (but mostly without English subtitles):

Who Am I
Toni Erdmann
Oh Boy (aka A Coffee in Berlin)
Das Weisse Band (aka The White Ribbon)
Das Leben der Anderen (aka The Life of Others)
Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei (aka The Edukators)
Good Bye Lenin!

sadly not on Netflix over here:
Lola rennt (aka Run Lola Run),
Gegen die Wand (aka Head-On)
Victoria
Absolute Giganten (aka Gigantic)
Alice in den Staedten (aka Alice in the Cities)

Thank you so much Leroux. Their descriptions are interesting, I want to watch them all!
I took note and I am going to search them on N,D+,A right now!

That's what I am talking about: A lot of high quality regional movies
all over the world that pass unknown for the rest for strange reasons...

It wasnt Netflix or any other algorithm suggesting me
The Hunt, Cube, Das Experiment, Swing (2002), Gadjo dilo...
Hell, not even Passing Strange from Spike Lee...
The only one that came to me by itself (I guess thanks to a public TV channel here)
is Run Lola Run. A very good movie

Thanks again for the suggestions and honoring those quality movies suggesting them.
Without you, this guy from somewhere else probably have missed them at all. Thumbs up :)
Live Is Life (2021) on Netflx

To avoid any spoiler and/or keep it short: Great movie, worths watching it

Many thanks to Leroux for recommending it!
Allo' Allo' (series)
Satire is best uncensored and this one has no shortages of really fun moments. Recently had my first marathon and it was a blast.

I can warmly recommend this one.

The Valet (2022)

Really like the main character (looks like a natural, really likeable), his family and the story overall. Gotta say, Eugenio Derbez is one of my new favorite now.

There's something called too much diversity, one-sided view of a group of people, and subsequently unbelievable world-building. We've all seen how the latest narrative in the west is literally destroying everything, from well written stories, characters, common intelligence, and general world-building just to push an agenda... and this is really sad.

I was actually afraid this one also was going to be too much ruined by this, but to my surprise, this movie falls more into the farce arena and are actually quite funny.

Resident Alien (2021, series)
Loved the first season. There's something about sarcastic and sardonic characters that really makes my day.

But the second season just became too preachy and unbelievable for my taste, again, small communities are NOT subject for huge change in diversity. That takes several decades. In contrast, in huge cities these culture things are more washed-out and changes happens rapidly.

I'll wait and see if it gets better, but I doubt it. Northern Exposure is better but much much slower.

Pumping Iron (1977)
Never thought I'd say this but it subverted my expectations of it being cheesy and poorly made. As far as documentaries goes, it's a really great one and shows Arnold in a different light. More personally, at least when he was younger. Always had much in the charisma department despite being bulky.

And yes, the comment "I'm cumming whenever I feel the pump" was to get that shock reaction from the audience. Not only charming and bulky, but intelligent also. A rare combo in Hollywood. :D

Fun fact - it actually is (or at least started out as) a parody of a serious, acclaimed war drama TV series Secret Army. It's not really necessary to know that show to enjoy Allo Allo, it's just a curious case of the parody becoming far more known and better remembered than the original, which pretty much dropped off the radar, especially outside the UK. I remember being quite astound when I saw the first few episodes of Secret Army, not knowing about the connection, and slowly realised I'm watching a serious version of Allo Allo.

Funny, did not know that one, thanks.

I guess, just like with Hogan's Heroes and MASH (and many others), these satirical parodies of certain historical events are easier to swallow when they come in a lighter and more humorous package.

British humour, although a bit quirky compared to US ones, usually sells better and lasts longer than the more serious ones. US production has typically dominated internationally here when it comes to the more serious tone.
