UPDATE: We've added a new option to the Privacy settings in GOG Profiles - from now on you can turn off your profile on GOG entirely, so no one can see any kind of information that is shown on the profile page. This also means that when you turn off your profile, you won’t be visible on your friends’ friends lists, even if they decide to keep their profiles visible.
The option to enable/disable your GOG Profile can be found in your account „Privacy & Settings” options, under „Privacy” tab.

We just introduced a new feature on GOG.COM: User Profiles – a social way to share what you and your friends are up to. See what your friends on GOG are playing, achieving, and sharing across four sections – Feed, Profile, Games and Friends.

Your Feed is the centerpiece of your Profile. Here, you’ll see which games your friends have been playing, all sorts of achievements and milestones, as well as general thoughts, screenshots, and forum activity. You can dispense your approval at whim and share your own stuff as well!

Your Profile is all about you and your gaming accomplishments. It's a summary of your activity, like the time you've spent in your games , your latest achievements (and just how rare they are among other users), as well as a glimpse at what your most active friends have been up to.

If you want to know more about your Games, you need to hit the the third tab. It contains a list of all the games you own on GOG, together with stats like time spent in-game and your progress towards unlocking the achievements. Sort the list, compare stats with your friends, and get some healthy competition going.

Finally – your Friends: get a general summary of their achievements and hours played. Here you'll also see which games are the most popular among your friends right now, so you can join them in multiplayer or find something you might enjoy yourself.

Of course, your profile comes with some sweet personalization options, choose a wallpaper from your game collection and share a few words with the world.

User Profiles are available for all GOG.COM users. Your personal gameplay stats like achievements, time played and milestones depend on GOG Galaxy, but if you’re not using the optional client you can still use the feed, post in it and interact with your friends.

Launching profiles also means adding new privacy settings on our end. You'll find three new Privacy options in your account's „Privacy & settings” area. These settings allow you to set the visibility for your profile summary, your games, your friends, etc.
So what are you waiting for? There's so much room for activities!

MIK0: What I don't understand is why you can't be sympathetic with the users that didn't want their informations shared, even if meaningless one, and that wish to have control over those features.

Alaric.us: I'm not him but I'll try to answer. It seems that everyone is on board when it comes to the necessity of more granular privacy controls. Those of us who like the new feature have nothing against the rest of the users hiding their data including games, playtime, etc. I mean, you are right, it's your data and you shouldn't be forced to share it.

That said, to some of us it seems that the reaction on the part of some users is so vastly disproportionate to GOG's "transgression", so grandiose, so full of pathos, so overly dramatic ... that it seems almost comical. I for one can understand being annoyed by this if simply out of principle, but reading some of the posts it would seem that the world is ending because of some vile act of treason most vile, which condemned all of humanity.

We argue because we are experiencing a sever cognitive dissonance. The disparity between the action and the reaction is blowing our minds. It's like when Alex Jones is flipping out over frogs turning gay, even if you don't really care about him, that very display is enough to make others want to troll him.
Not all the posts where overly dramatic or disproportionate and to be fair, I really have hard time seeing the different in the counterpart response in some cases. As I said that's the issue when things tend to go out of hand.
I understand your point. But try to see things from others perspective. There are more than one issue here:
- unwanted feature enabled by default that cannot be disabled
- badly implemented feature that show lacks in consideration for the end users
- lacks of communications and time to adjust to the change
- history of GOG repeated bad behavior

In particular you have to take into account the long GOG history of pushing something that a not minimal part of their community don't like, miscommunication (lack of communication, lacking communication or misleading communication), not listening to feedbacks. So the reaction is kind of the sum of what came before. It's not a transgression anymore when you do it everytime. To this day, no GOG transgression has ever brought something good to the platform. That said a transgression shouldn't be taken lightly, even without pathos is still grave. In this case GOG choose to take privacy and users concerns lightly, it's not like they didn't knew, they acted on purpose to unconvenience their users when there were plenty of options to avoid that while still achieving their goal.

AmethystViper: If me pointing out how foolish people are throwing a hissy-fit up over playtimes, achievements, and games the own shown on their account is condescending to you when they could ignore it, then I don't what to know what your definition of modesty is. Are you seeing the following at all whether or not they were on a user's discretion?

• E-mail address of the users being made public
• The users' home address
• Credit card information
• Order numbers and billing information on store transaction
• Social security number, birth certificate, and other personal/medical information

If the answer is "no" to any of these, then would you kindly shut up and move on with your sad and overly paranoid life? And to answer your "question", you already answered that one yourself.
So, if I understand you correctly, you have the right to decide for other people what they should or shouldn't care about, and anybody who cares more about personal information and privacy breaches than you do is a paranoid fool?

All I have to say about that is fuck you! Guess what, my opinion and the opinion of all the posters in this thread who showed concern about how GOG implemented this new profile feature is just as valid as yours, notwithstanding your overinflated opinion of yourself. If you don't like it, go fuck yourself.

And with that, I'm going to stop there for today because I'm getting angry with you bunch of arrogant assholes who think you have a right to force your opinion on others, and you're simply not worth it.

Once again, I don't disagree. The feature needs to be improved and people need to be given the option to not participate in it in any form. It's fair to let GOG know. It's fair to be annoyed even if the privacy leak is minimal.

The way in which way some people here react, though ... it's just not civilized.

Also (and this has no bearing on the matter, I just thought I'd point it out) we here on the forums are such an incredibly tiny (if vocal) minority, it's no wonder that GOG tends to value our input a bit less than we'd like. I say this even though I personally am unhappy with some of severe bugs that are still not fixed.

RainbowDragon: At the moment you cannot completely disable your profile or make it "invisible". But you can send a support ticket to gog.com
https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us
and request that they make your profile invisible - and hope for the best. I also have created a feature request
https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/disable_view_profile_function_for_customers_who_care_for_their_privacy
and hope that somebody at gog will care enough about their customer's requests (and the upcoming EU privacy and data protection laws) to add an option to our user accounts to opt out of the visible user profiles.

Cresset: Account > Settings > Privacy > Visibility: hidden (nobody can find me [by email or username])

Should do it?
Hmmm... yes and no at the same time: they may now not be able to search for your profile (by profile name or e-mail-address) anymore but they can still hover with their mouse over your avatar and than click on "View Profile" to see this... see attached png file ... and THAT is the problem with the visible profiles in the user forum which I would like to opt out from.

But if that's the case, that really begs the question as to why they chose members from this community, and paid to fly them to their offices in Poland to give them a tour, hear their complaints, and tell them "You guys matter!". Why do that if it's such a vocal minority? It's starting to feel like an empty PR attempt at saving face.
this shit is great.
perfect for an anti social person like me.

7.1 Privacy Policy[1]:
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised or unlawful processing(...). - Nice!

Reality:
We show everybody how many games you bought at GOG.com and how many hours you spent playing them. You have no possibility to disable this. - WTF?

Alaric.us: I see nothing at all wrong with your argument. You are entirely correct in what you expect, and I hope that GOG provides you with it as soon as possible. In fact I am sorry that this oversight caused you to feel upset. This should never have happened.

The way in which the discontent is being expressed by a lot of posters in this thread, however, makes it very difficult (if not altogether impossible) to relate to them. When the victim's reaction is worse than the transgression, the victim (who still is, of course, a victim) becomes a very unsympathetic figure.
Sometimes that is the result of frustration by either or both: 1- beeing mistreated by other users for their own personal view, 2- being ignored by GOG representative.
While the first point you can see for yourself (and to be fair happens on both side), the second one is the most important.
GOG representative are misteriosly scarce when critics and feedback are in place or when users needs to have answers and feel listened too. When instead there's a new release or a "good news" they are all over the place at every hours. If you feel like you are unimportant and that nobody is listening or care about you, don't you think there's a chance you'll are prone to raise your voice or go over the boundaries your usually set for yourself? In my opinion those reactions are partially the conseguences of GOG behavior.
Hey, look! I found some footage of AmethystViper.

I can't and won't claim to know the reasoning behind that. GOG doesn't report to me after all. =)

My above comment is simply a speculation based on the amount of active users on the forum vs. the amount of unique sales that some companies report on GOG.

I can be wrong, it happened before.
