UPDATE: We've added a new option to the Privacy settings in GOG Profiles - from now on you can turn off your profile on GOG entirely, so no one can see any kind of information that is shown on the profile page. This also means that when you turn off your profile, you won’t be visible on your friends’ friends lists, even if they decide to keep their profiles visible.
The option to enable/disable your GOG Profile can be found in your account „Privacy & Settings” options, under „Privacy” tab.

We just introduced a new feature on GOG.COM: User Profiles – a social way to share what you and your friends are up to. See what your friends on GOG are playing, achieving, and sharing across four sections – Feed, Profile, Games and Friends.

Your Feed is the centerpiece of your Profile. Here, you’ll see which games your friends have been playing, all sorts of achievements and milestones, as well as general thoughts, screenshots, and forum activity. You can dispense your approval at whim and share your own stuff as well!

Your Profile is all about you and your gaming accomplishments. It's a summary of your activity, like the time you've spent in your games , your latest achievements (and just how rare they are among other users), as well as a glimpse at what your most active friends have been up to.

If you want to know more about your Games, you need to hit the the third tab. It contains a list of all the games you own on GOG, together with stats like time spent in-game and your progress towards unlocking the achievements. Sort the list, compare stats with your friends, and get some healthy competition going.

Finally – your Friends: get a general summary of their achievements and hours played. Here you'll also see which games are the most popular among your friends right now, so you can join them in multiplayer or find something you might enjoy yourself.

Of course, your profile comes with some sweet personalization options, choose a wallpaper from your game collection and share a few words with the world.

User Profiles are available for all GOG.COM users. Your personal gameplay stats like achievements, time played and milestones depend on GOG Galaxy, but if you’re not using the optional client you can still use the feed, post in it and interact with your friends.

Launching profiles also means adding new privacy settings on our end. You'll find three new Privacy options in your account's „Privacy & settings” area. These settings allow you to set the visibility for your profile summary, your games, your friends, etc.
So what are you waiting for? There's so much room for activities!

Cresset: Account > Settings > Privacy > Visibility: hidden (nobody can find me [by email or username])

Should do it?

RainbowDragon: Hmmm... yes and no at the same time: they may now not be able to search for your profile (by profile name or e-mail-address) anymore but they can still hover with their mouse over your avatar and than click on "View Profile" to see this... see attached png file ... and THAT is the problem with the visible profiles in the user forum which I would like to opt out from.
I see, I was under the impression hidden meant the profile could not be accessed at all. At least it looks like it should be simple to add an option to grey out the "view profile" link, like with "wishlist" and "start a conversation".

Alaric.us: Also (and this has no bearing on the matter, I just thought I'd point it out) we here on the forums are such an incredibly tiny (if vocal) minority, it's no wonder that GOG tends to value our input a bit less than we'd like. I say this even though I personally am unhappy with some of severe bugs that are still not fixed.
avatar
CARRiON-XCII: But if that's the case, that really begs the question as to why they chose members from this community, and paid to fly them to their offices in Poland to give them a tour, hear their complaints, and tell them "You guys matter!". Why do that if it's such a vocal minority? It's starting to feel like an empty PR attempt at saving face.
That wouldn't be the only one.

Mr_GeO: So, another potentialy usefull - but also potentially irritating for many users - GoG feature and/or change communicated in very sloopy way and introduced in ill-considered, careless manner.

Did you people fired your PR team or something?
That would actually improve things :)

Ophelium: To be fair, there was a thread about this created 4 days ago by a blue. However, I don't go digging through the forums and I'm not alone in that. Shoot, this is the first day in months that I've bothered posting.

Edit: Thread in question.
....aaaaand what I find marvelously ironic is that the literally 3rd post in said thread is telling the blues that there's a good possibility that this stuff will case perfect SHTF scenario. And it should be communicated better. Answer? "it will be, when it goes live".
Obviously, it's a bit too late now. Fan was hit hard and, well... 'projectile' splashed over a full perimeter :]

On a side note: for me this whole "profile" is 100% useless gimmick, without any added value. However, if some people need to publicly announce that they played game X for Y hours I'll say let them be. They are - at least in theory - adults, responsible for their actions.

Exactly that is what I hope for and if they really WANT to they should be able to make that optional within a day. But obviously we have to MAKE them want to do it first...

MysterD: Nice @ profiles now on GOG.

I would love to be able to take screenshots within GOG program of my game and then be able to post them to a Screenshots Page on My GOG Profile.
avatar
Alexim: You can take screenshots with Galaxy, then you can upload them in the profile page, there is a section where you can upload pictures or write something.
Wait. What key do you hit (by default) to take a pic within Galaxy?

Too bad some of the users here don't (or won't) get that and will witch hunt you for calling them out on their toxic and childish attitude.

Should be F12, then the screenshot is saved in a folder of GOG Galaxy. The game must have the overlay feature.

That was a good one :-)! My ticket is now hanging there in their system for 12 hours...

But PLEASE do not disencourage people from sending tickets to support - let's flood their ticketing system with our valuable requests in our crusade to improve gog.com!
- we want private/invisible profiles
- we want an option in our accounts to make classic installers the default download option
- we want you to remove that f*cking captcha (I'm not a robot) when logging in...
- we want.... you know the rest :-)

I particularly don't care about the back end of the store myself, since people usually don't interact with me nor I with them. I agree with a lot of sentiments that it should've been opt-in not opt-out, like a lot of things they've done recently have been. Maybe GOG's default attitude should be "People are probably not going to like this" :P

I'm not going to bother complaining to Support. I can hide my stuff at the end of the day and I've told my singular friend on here to do so as well.

All I was here for were some classic games and then games I can play if I lack an internet connection. If GOG fixes up and lets me buy the old Transylvania trilogy, I don't care if they roll out loot boxes with profile decorations. Just give me a little forewarning.

Probably F12 by default. I think you can change it as well from the overlay.

EDIT: Ninja'd.

I have never posted much on the news, or here on the forums in general for that matter, but I thought I'd just chime in.

GOG, I don't really care for profiles but the execution and deployement of the feature were done poorly once again.
It's not the first time and you're getting a bit too old to keep on doing rookie misteps like those.

(Oh and I still haven't received the mail about it, I visited the site tonight to check a discount and I happened to discover the news)

dear gog.

as ever, you've bungled the rollout of this feature.

there was no beta. we couldn't tell you what we wanted.

so, of course, some of us - when this went live - wanted complete privacy.

that isn't what you wanted, so some of our information ends up being public regardless of whether we want it there or not.

if you'd just come to us, we could have helped you, but of course, that's not the way things are done around these parts, clearly. being tight lipped seems to matter more.

so. in short:

i wish to remain inaccessible to anyone outside of these forums. i don't mind that you have given me a profile, but i absolutely want privacy settings to make sure no one can see it.

thank you.
