It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Oh God, why did you do this with Heroes Chronicles? It's horrible.

paladin181: This will be another of their Half-assed implementations that never gets done right and leaves the system a little more broken than it was before. It is so frustrating that they are looking SO HARD at Galaxy (which is a NICE thing in itself) but there's so many other broken aspects of their site/system that they have ignored for virtually forever.
I was thinking they left the unbundling nearly "finished" and switched over to working on the updated account/library pages, which will require reworking of the update notifications, like they should have had ready before they started this. Given all the communication we have received it's merely random speculation on my part. Then again I'm skeptical the updated account/library pages will have equivalent functionality much less be more feature rich.

Today is Sunday, April 5, 2015.

The full unbundling has begun 20 days ago and has apparently not ended yet, leaving the library in a half-broken state (no update notifications, no links to game pages/forums for unbundled games, broken game links, even more product_bonuses, etc.).

A blue has not posted in this thread in the last 18 days (post #631, i.e. 724 posts ago).

If they make an official announcement about the overhaul of the account portion, like they did for the fresher, better GOG, I expect the thread to be extra long and go on for a good while.

mrkgnao: a) You're preaching to the choir.
b) If you find it more productive to wait for a solution, rest assured that GOG will leave no stone unturned in its tireless effort to make you wait.
I could even search for the games' names on wikipedia, if that was the only issue. It's just as needlessly complicated as using Magog.
By my experience, until now, GOG has been moderately receptive about the crowd's opinion. The fact that they made the local currency conversion optional instead of mandatory, a very similar case, was due to massive requests from the users. Speaking your voice against something, and doing it in numbers, is anything but useless.
If creating a request in the Community Wishlist, as i did, and publicizing it among other users, doesn't sound as proactive to you while sitting on my couch and use Magog to research the game names without even trying to convince GOG to look for a better solution seems more productive to you, i guess we have different views on what should be considered productive.
Instead of being so negative about GOG, why don't you subscribe the request as well, since you obviously seem about as happy about the changes as i am? Please, any extra vote would help!

CLBrown: I LOVE the idea of "unbundling"... IF you combine it with the ability to organize by folders (ideally, by nestable folders).

If I, for instance, have the option of creating a folder on my shelf (or perhaps it would be a "box" or a "drawer" or so forth, in visual terms) called "Star Wars Games" and inside of that I can create a nested folder (or whatever) called "X-Wing Series"... that would be PERFECT.
That's what i mean with the community wishlist i started: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/give_users_an_option_to_bundleunbundle_games

The unbundling of game packs isn't necessarily BAD per se. It's the mandatory way they are handling it that is just amazingly messy. Making it an arrangement option would be way more useful to customers and clean. And your idea is probably even better.

"You're preaching to the choir" means "There is no need to try to convince me; I already agree with you".
In respect to "speaking against something", I direct you to the 119 posts I have made in this thread, for example this one.

I already voted on it two weeks ago.

Yup, i know exactly what "preaching to the choir" means, the italian language uses the very same expression for the concept. But your subsequent comments confused me. You wrote "If you find it more productive to wait for a solution...", well, i interpreted it as if you were implying that while you agreed with me, my efforts were anyway wasted and i would better use my time using workarounds like the Magog search instead of waiting for GOG to answer my request and find a solution.
I thought it meant that you didn't agree with the whole concept of making a petition, deeming it useless, therefore i assumed you didn't subscribe it already.
I suppose i just misinterpreted your comment, so i kept, well, "preaching to the choir", didn't i?
Anyway, it's not that i'm not grateful for your effort to help me, it's just that in fact i'm not actually that much concerned about being unable to recognize what bundles are my games from now. I was just trying to make a point, which is that not only the library is a mess now, but it's a MESSY mess. It's even more confusing than i initially though it would have been. They are handling this in a pretty mediocre way.

Shendue:
I'm glad that's cleared out.
It's enough for us to handle the confusion GOG is throwing upon us, without us confusing each other as well.

I hope all the bundles get rebundled, as it was better the original way.

Elideb: Consider voting for
http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/categorize_our_shelf
or http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/categories_in_my_collection
instead of the "option to disable unbundling" feature request. Those are much, much more useful, and fix the problem right away.
avatar
PaterAlf: No, that wouldn't fix the problem right away. Because for those of us with huge collections (more than 626 titles on the shelf), the manually sorting is broken. We still can drag and drop the boxes, but the site won't save the changes. Should be first priority for GOG to fix that bug, before they introduce any new shelf features.
I think that would fall clearly under the ability to categorize. If we were able to group our games, or browse them per category, series or whatever, then manual sorting would no longer be relevant. And categories should be saved, obviously, so that would solve the current sorting bugs.

Elideb: Those who dislike the change, please consider that, instead of focusing in getting back a not-so-good bundling system, wouldn't it be more productive to request new ways to filter your collection?[...]

john_hatcher: And how does that solve the problem I'm facing now. I was just checking for new versions of Might&Magic 1-6 and now I have to update/download 6 files which takes a lot more time to do and these files are together much bigger then the one file i downloaded before. This being the one problem and the other is, as Silalus said, the ignorence of GOG concerning this thread.
This specific problem is not solved, but I see it as a one time issue. The bright side is that, from now on, if a game is updated, you'll only need to download the affected games, instead of the whole bundle. In the long run, I think this is beneficial, even if cumbersome right now.

And, yes, I'll have to re-download lots of games in the coming weeks too, since I keep local backups of almost all my GOG games.

Hey Ciris, it would be great to see you (or any staff member) respond to this. Better yet, it'd be great if the web designers over at GOG would fix these issues so that our library will start functioning correctly.

Marking as In Progress.
So, the Raid on Unbundling Bay continues... or should it be the Raid on Bungling Bay? :P

Nothing like dead silence to tell us that they are listening to their customers and everything is alright!
After seeing all five Quest for Glory games with the exact same box art, I'm not fond of this at all. I'm hoping they each get a box art update to reflect the content of the individual game. Or really, I would like the option to re-bundle them under the old icon. I'm not mad either way, but you guys fixed a problem I never had, and now I have a (minor) problem.
