why has unbundling them redistributed them in random places throughout my shelf? now I have to reorganize everything again, why could they not just expand outward from where they were already located?

Because that would require GOG actually putting sufficient thought into the process... something which they obviously haven't, given that preventing half of the complaints in this thread by ensuring automatic series grouping and ordering was as simple as requiring a naming policy like "{series name} {position} - {game title}" but they didn't even do that.

Just curious, are all these "I like this" posts from 1 rep users just Judas' alts? :)

mg1979: I'm sorry to say this but they should learn something from Steam.
In what way? For example Cthulhu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII are only sold together, and when you buy them, they end up in two different places in your library. And they must be downloaded individually like all Steam games. How is Steam better?

Given how much he is hamstrung by NDAs, I have a sneaky suspicion that any shadow account of his would be more likely to side with us. ;)

A diversion for someone good with numbers and spreadsheets (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) and plenty of time on his hands (come May): Calculate the median rep of people who like the change and people who do not.

Yeah, I'm sure you're correct. Must be tough to be the public face of the whole deal in the forums. Judas' move from fan to employee is why I don't work in a meat processing plant. :)

I'm almost willing to throw out a ballpark on this one.

By the number of posts from GOG in this thread (or better the lack of) regarding the mentioned problems, I think GOG simply does not give a fuck about the people who have complaints. For me, one more step towards Steam.

Even so I'm not affected by Galaxy, at least that is what I have been told many times, I'm affected by this unbundling nonsense, which kind of contradicts the "not affected by Galaxy" shit.

dowger79: If I remember correctly, there will be "achievements" for GOG Galaxy. Is this true?
Yep, and there is one game already with achievements in Galaxy which is The Witcher Adventure Game.

As far as the unbundling, I like it that multiple games in a series are being separated. Based on what some people have stated though I don't feel episodes, ect should be separated, these are essentially one game. I can't really judge it myself, because I don't own any games like that... but I would hate it if I did.

I believe the only game I had separated was the Tropico Reloaded, which I liked.
I like the unbundling idea, except Alone in the Dark 1, 2 & 3 are still bundled.

What would be better is in the manual sort mode if we could group things, and give the group a title. And then have the ability to move the group around, not just the individual game.

This always bugged me. How games 2 and 3 are pretty much considered "extras", and bundled together as such. Can you say inconsistant? Now they finally decide to unbundle stuf, but this missed out? Somehow makes it more irritating than before.

The thing that bothers me the most about this is the blatant lie about the reason.

Honestly, if the GOG team came out and said, "we gotta do this for Galaxy", and then people complained, and they said, "sorry, we know it isn't perfect for the website, but we had no choice"... well, that wouldn't be perfect, but at least it would be honest.

Instead what I'm seeing is "oh no, this isn't just for Galaxy, this is because you asked for it! It's just luck it happens to work for Galaxy too!" Followed by folks finding the 30ish votes for doing this... Followed by a thousand people expressing serious concerns... Followed by absolute, utter silence by GOG.

There is nothing more disappointing from a company than spin that borders on dishonesty- except for silence. I started this thread totally in favor of unbundling and a huge GOG fan, and at this point I've become very disappointed with both. I'm eagerly awaiting my faith being restored by some communication...

They(GOG) were forced to release Alone like that for whatever dumb reason GOG in order to give people all three games had to sell you the first game and give the other two as extras, just look through the old Alone announcement thread I recall one of the Blues saying that they had to do that due to "licensing" or something to that effect. Hell if you look at the card for the game it clearly says "Alone in the dark" not Alone 1+2+3. So technically you are not buying a bundle but only buying the first game and getting the other two as freebie extras.Again why GOG had to do this is only known to them and Atari at the time.

So in that case it's not inconstancy that it wasn't broken up like say the two Ultima trilogies or Might and Magic 1-6 since as I said Alone is not a bundle just a single title with it's sequels as extras.

While I'm here, would it kill GOG to put the Dos version of Wizardry 7 in the installer as opposed to the extras? why it was in the extras in the first place instead of the much buggier Gold edition is beyond me. I know it's not that big of a deal but it made no sense what so ever.
**Bangs head on desk**

People at GOG have gone either Insane of Off the rails I do not need installers for games that are only several Kilobytes in size all GOG had to do was MAKE IT OPTIONAL or have us click the Boxes and have a Drop down menu with the individual titles in the drop down would of made Much more sense!
Alone in the Dark Trilogy is not on the list :(
