JDelekto: It's funny you mention that, because 'a' was the first thing that came to mind until I decided to Google it, after all it is a letter and banning a letter, much less a vowel. The last thing I would want to have is uncontrollable vowel movements.
Well, the reason why I said that is that I think it doesn't really matter if you lose either "the" or "a" if you still keep the other one, so that instead of distinguishing between x and y, you could still distinguish between 0 and 1, if you get my meaning. Instead of "the word" vs. "a word", you'd have "word" vs. "a word", or "the word" vs "word", and people would still understand the difference. I might be wrong, but I think Swedish works that way?

In any case, in English you only lose one or two words if you remove articles, in other languages like German, it would also change parts of the grammar.

Understood, in English (and I ran across a few posts), if you drop the articles as well as the vowels from words, it is still comprehensible. One has to wonder why there is so much padding; my assumption is due to phonetic influence. While it can be read 'intellectually', pronunciation would be a challenge.
Supercalifra.... feck it, I refuse to even type that word, it should never of been allowed in a dictionary!

Funny thing is that word isn't very old so you might have a case there.
Schadenfreude. Too many people like both the word and the concept, too many people practice it. It sounds" cool" but it isn't, it's a sickness. Beethoven wrote about freude, not schadenfreude. Free joy, not joy at other people's expense. if you like schadenfreude (the word or the sickness) you are a loser in the long run.

Troll. Trolls are mythical, magical creatures, not nasty little vengeful troublemakers.

Okay, okay, another word then.

Abstinence!

I totally hate this word with whatever meaning it might have. "Abstinence" should be banned! I withdraw previous post, it was indeed a troll bait this time round; as i stated before, for the time being, i wish they succeed in their fight for more rights (as long as our common enemy looses authority due to opposing their movement). Abstinence too, is preached heavily and enforced on gullible fools, by the common enemy i share with the LGBT people (and nothing else i share).

Entitled, i just hate it when fanboys use it as a derogatory word, if you're paying for something then yes, you're ENTITLED to have an OPINION.

Sorry, do you mean that you find it patronising when someone who doesn't agree with you tells you that you are "entitled" to your opinion ? If so, I agree with your sentiment. I may be wrong, but at least I'm entitled to my opinion.

I wouldn't ban the word "entitled" though, but I would love too see the end of that USAGE of it. Similarly, I wouldn't ban the word "schadenfreude" but I would love to see it die (or at least become less "fashionable") as a an actual phenomenon.

You can't ban words, ultimately. They will just come into fashion and go out of fashion.

Lots of good choices, so far. This one:

tinyE: Serious answer, though not really a word:

SJW
and generally words used to just dismiss someone else's point are pretty bad.

For example, you have someone paying for ps+ (the PAID online service of Sony), that person goes to a forum or a blog and voice their opinion saying that they feel like Sony is being cheap by putting on the service only indie titles, they should vary the games or remove the online multiplayer paywall.

Few minutes later the shinning white knight appears saying that person is an entitled gamer because he doesn't like the games that Sony is "giving".
Notice that i used quote marks on giving? That's because they're argument comes down to "You're crying about free games? Man, gamers are so entitled..."

This is another one that bothers me, although I can't really wish it gone since there are genuine uses for it. Like when a publisher takes an old game, makes a sequel in name only, and then it gets mad that the old fans didn't buy it. In that case they felt entitled to our money, and were wrong.

i'm not sure I understand that usage of the word "entitled", I thought you meant something entirely different ! It sounds to me like you are talking about a kind of snobbery, though, so I'm inclined to agree with you, though I'm not really sure what you mean to be perfectly honest :)

i would just ban or anathematize politicians / politically oriented types of people. Any political party just wants to redefine the meanings of words, so that they can make promises which, when people later accuse them of having failed to deliver on, they can "refute" those claims, because they have in the meantime changed the meaning of the word in order to suit their own nefarious purposes. Just get rid of political types of people and put philosophical / spiritual types in their place and you would also solve most of the problems of shifting / bastardized meanings of words too. Just better, more honest, less selfish people would solve the problems of language basically.

Also, get rid of scientific terms from mainstream dictionaries. Science is an admirable and very necessary pursuit, but scientific terms belong in their own dictionary, not in dictionaries for everyday use.
