I wouldn't be able to see what's outside if it wasn't for them. And they're nice to open when it gets warm.
Joke thread aside, I keep Windows around for the occasional times I want to play Sims 3.

CLASSIC CLASSIC CLASSIC
I use Windows because I'm lazy and ignorant, and I don't like change.

The thread is called "I used windows because" not "I use a Mac because".

There are alternatives.

You must not use AC. Admittedly, it's not for everyone (or all the time), though.

You can use doors instead.
About the windows, it is nice to open when it gets cold at where I live.
Unfortunately, anymore, you practically need something signed to install one of the alternatives. Seriously, what is with putting arms in shackles? Can't they be free? All i want is an alternative to the status quo! A free market!

And, yes, i do mean that three ways (physical windows, gui windows, and microsoft windows).

Years ago when I was a poor student I got a very cheap almost free student copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. I kept that license through two pc builds by calling MS and explaining my student copy and reading them the activation code. Then when Windows 10 was coming up, I installed the tech preview, and MS eventually decided to give all us tech preview people the final release for free.

During all that time, I messed about a bit with a Debian release, MInt once or twice, and something else I don't remember. We also acquired a Chromebook which I am forever happy we have around.

But, the fact that Windows has been practically free for me for a decade has made it pretty painless to stick with. And I'm not afraid of moving to Linux someday if I have to. But, truth be told, I am not much of a power user - less so as time goes on, even. So, Windows really does everything I need it to do. (Well, I'm tech enough to find 3rd party solutions for those funny things that are a bit out of the ordinary.)
I use the X Windowing System; it's the way GUI programs typically run on Linux systems.

(Yes, there's Wayland, but that's rather new at this point and isn't standard on Linux systems (yet?).)

I prefer DC.

PS: I have an appointment at 3:14 FM, so I have to go.

I use windows to play games that won't run well enough on Linux. Have a win 10 on separate partition. Last game I beat on windows is Quantum Break. I also still have to beat Tales of Zestiria on windows because on Linux it's cinematic doesn't play sounds

Odds are you already use linux. What's your phone?

Funnily enough, I have one gog game linked against wayland (actually just its supplied llibSDL2 library). I'm not a big fan of Waland, even if it does solve a few problems with X. I'm also not a fan of pulse audio, which that same game also comes linked against. I seem to have fixed both by installing libraries (wayland is innocuous, and apulse eliminates the need for pulse audio) instead of trying to replace its supplied libSDL2. Now I'm rambling, so I'll shut up.

Thomas Edison was an ass. That is all.
